We got a 2 buck raise this year and local management still hasn't gotten over it.
For driver appreciation we all got a 10 dollar Pilot card...taxed of course.

I never really got into this driver appreciation day business. There are 364 other days in a year and I really rather my checks don't bounce, my truck ran legally, and have plenty of miles during those 354 days. Sure the hotdogs and burgers were nice. Every once in a while at one place, I drove for they sent us a coupon for a free meal at TA. I got more satisfaction from being told I did a great job and thrived on a simple thank you, Mike, for a job well done. I remember once sitting in the employee break room fixing several logs where I had made "form and manner" mistakes. The VP in charge of operations entered the room for coffee. I had just finished a large cup and was OK, still, that guy impressed me for two reasons. First, he knew my name. Then he asked me if I wanted a cup? I will never forget what he said after I said I was OK. He told me I was a member of his "POSSE" and he wanted us taken care of. I had heard that term before and knew what he meant by it. POSSE members were drivers that once we said OK we could do something the action was counted by him as DONE! To that end, we always had priority on loads over the other drivers, EVEN if they got to an area first. "Drivers Appreciation Day?? I will let the steering wheel holders have fun that day. I rather be appreciated for the entire year! Sorry if my words offend, it is just how I always felt!
