now i no that there are a lot of post about PRIME in fact they have gotten so much attention that alone should tell you that they must be doing somthing right.
now i at one time leased a tractor from prime and no i did not stay with them but not for all the reasons i hear on here . i left because of a dispatcher who refushed to give me anything but short runs , i dont like them and i dont take them but that is just me , prime will tell you you can get rid of the dispatcher and get a new one , well it didnt work for me so i left with no hard feelings, in fact they tries to get me to come back for a month but once i leave a company thats it , BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY REASON.
now i no most of you think that this is another thread badsmothing prime but read on it is not.
first let me ask you this. a tractor cost about a 125.000 bucks who do you no that will give you a new tractor though you have little or no expeirence and turn you loose on the road without getting somthing in return? i dont no any they have to make some money off the investment. prime will.
who do you no that will treat you like royalty from the time you step of the bus till you quit? prime will.
who will give you unlimeted access to the company store, your own credit account with no limitations without having a credit score of 700 ? prime will in fact they dont even check your credit . you go the the shop or the store give them your truck number and get what you want , they will even instal it if need be , of course its not free , you have to pay it back but i no of no one that will give it to you free you have to get real.
when you get your truck you wil find that there are few restricsions on it for all intents and purposes it is your truck, you want your wife and kids to go , just do it , you want to take your pets , go for it hell i new of one guy that took his wife and kids and a #### pet python, no anyone else that will do that, i dont .
now all trucks are expensive and when you lease one its even more expensine, but when your fresh out of school or you have little expeirence, and you have no money in your pocket who will give you a chance with a new truck and trailer? prime will. and its a good way to get started.
will you make a lot of money ? not a lot but you will make money i no i did . today i have 5 tractors and 5 step deck trailers and yes prime helped me get them they gave me a helping hand when i was down to nothing and i mean nopthing in fact when i stepped of the bus it was freezing cold i had a short sleve shirt and nothing else after two days they noticed it and told me to go to the store and get what i needed 1100.00 dollors later i came out and by god i was warm. no anybody else that will do that?
now i no there are a lot of guys that dont make it with prime in fact you can sit in there lot on any day and see them cleaning out there trucks, but you can see the same thing any where else BUT they had the chance at owning there own truck if they had stayed just three years it could have been theres and they quit for a lot of different rerasons but let me tell you its not all primes fault
a lot of you hands call prime drivers cheer leaders , rookies and so on but think of ot this way. with prime drivers most pretty much stick together , they help each other along the way the rest of us could take a leson in that we dont we are all to quick to find fault with one another. not a good thing.
if i was just trying to get in the business , with no expeirence, no money , no credit, nothing but the shirt on my back , would i go to prime ? in a heart beat id be on the bus yesterday why? because i no when i left there i would have a truck , and i wouldnt have to worry about money , or food for my family, or a late bill . with prime all it takes is a phone call and the money is there , the bill is paid and my family has food in the house.
so when you listen to all the people bad mouth prime you might consider all this i no of no other company that will take care of you like prime does
in fact most of them wont take care of you at all and as likly as not they will leave you stranded some where and another driver will have to feed you if your lucky and loan you enough money to get home.
now as i said im no longer a prime driver and not comected to prime in any way but when your listening to all the bs about prime you might cut them some slack they do take care of there own and will just about give anyone a chance. MOST COMPANYS WONT .
best of luck to all,-----southernpride

Thank you, Southernpride!
Been reading for the past week or so and your post only reinforces our decision of going with Prime. -
That's all U2 and I have been trying to say. Prime is a good place to start - they treat you well, and in my case I have nothing to complain about. Still working the company side myself - but we'll see as the economy turns around.

Make sure you read the requirements. I was told by a recuiter that they check for BMI only to check for sleep apnea and if you did not make it under the BMI you would have to go for sleep test. Thats a bunch of crap. If you do not fall in their BMI calculator do not waste your time or money going there. It cost me a lot of money to go there based on what I was being told so BE VERY CAREFUL!!!

Very true. Prime started doing this about 6 months or so ago...
Just keep in mind it's not Prime trying to screw the driver out of money or a job. They're being forced to do this by the feds. And to the best of my knowledge, Robert Low is not making any money off of the tests or machines. As far as I know, Prime has contracted with an unaffiliated clinic to do the tests at a very cut rate - $125 for the test, using some rooms at the motel facility that Prime operates for their drivers. They do the best they can at defraying the cost for the machine if you need one - but again, Mr. Low isn't making any money on this either... the money all goes back to the doctors and clinic that are providing the service.
What they have told us is that the company is trying to get ahead of the curve on the sleep apnea deal. Looks like the FMCSA medical rules will be changed to require sleep apnea studies on folks exceeding a given neck size and BMI. Doesn't matter whether you think it's crap or not - the feds believe it. Heard Dr. John on Roaddog say that the BMI/neck-size deal is a very reliable indicator of folks who probably have sleep apnea, although just because you're not included by the criteria doesn't mean you can't have sleep apnea.
That being said, it's also never been proven that sleep apnea affects the safety of commercial drivers, so yeah, I agree at this point it's a crock. I'd be willing to bet money that every doctor jumping on-board with this has a financial interest in how many expensive sleep apnea tests and machines they can sell.
That being said, if you exceed the maximum neck-size or BMI (that's from the National Institute of Health... not Prime) you need to loose some weight before orientation.MCss Thanks this. -
Good post. I got my start with Prime back in March, and I'm very happy working for them. Of course, I'm on the company side. But your post still rings true. I feel like I have been given a great opportunity here, have been treated with respect from day one, and no matter if I stay with Prime long term or not, I'll always be greatful for what they have done for me.

if you exceed the maximum neck-size or BMI and You take the test and it good. you are ok to go , but you have to pay for the test your self at $125.00
-
Actually that's a mighty good price - years ago, I had a sleep study quoted to me at $4000 - that's without the machine! Dang good thing I lost about 80 lbs!

Wow Southernpride,
I am working for a not so good Flatbed Co.,and put in an App,and was approved,
The only draw back is going into a trainer truck after upgrading, and bring solo for 3 months, and 60,000 miles is a long time, but if they are that good to their drivers!
It's gotta be better than sitting at a terminal for 7 days waiting for a headlight, and some other minor repairs.
