I have a s60 in a glider kit. 12.7, no EGR. Right after fueling today it started missing. Got it into Freightliner and they plugged in, did a cut out test, he says #2 is bad.
Have no codes, he says if it was the harness it would have a code. I'm sure I had a harness go in a previous truck 10 or so years ago that had a harness go, I paid for a set of injectors on that truck, detroit diesel did it, they didnt do the harness, and it had the same problem? Had to have the harness done on the road, didnt need injectors.
Is there a way to find out if it's the harness or injector or should I just replace both?
S60 #2 injector, injector or harness?

They are correct in saying that a harness issue will throw a code. What you probably have is a rocker or camshaft issue. This will not throw a code. I could make a living right now repairing Harrison and Fitzgerald gliders right now. The engine build quality is absolutely horrible. They are also mixing and matching parts. The poor engine block is usually on its third rebuild.

I'll agree the Fitzgerald are junk. I'll disagree with the Harrisons being junk. Why did Harrisons sell or merge with other company -
They have some of those gliders in Dallas for sale. $160K

You have to remember that it is Electronic Unit Injector. If the electrical solenoid, or harness failes you will have a code most of the time. If a mechanical part of the injector fails, you most Likely will not ever have a code. One they can ohm out harness for resistance. Two you can check exhaust manifold temps with a digital thermometer for mechanical faults. Third you can pull manifold and look for the hole that's smoking. If you do this, you must connect turbo supply to turbo drain on a Series 60.
But if you go thru the trouble to pull valve cover and your not certain of the age of harness, I would replace it. If your not certain on the age of injectors, I would install a 6pack.Elroythekid Thanks this. -
