Starting a new job with Schneiders tank division next week.

I am starting with Schneider next week (tanker) and want some input from past and/or present drivers that have worked for them. They agreed to pay me .39 cpm and have me home 6 days a month as well. It sounds too good to be true but I have to go to work for someone. I was let go by another company a few months ago and I am running out of options. I need some insight as to what to expect from these people. Thanks to all that reply.

 

Thanks for the support. I have never driven for Shoreline but if you can get a job driving for anybody I would take it no matter what. I have always prefered tankers over anything else. If you get the opportunity to drag one around I would do it. Less hassle than most van and reefer gigs.

 

I'll be honest with you bduke, I don't know of a carrier that is willing to compensate its drivers for all the questionables that you mentioned. Getting home 6 days out of the month, for me anyway, isn't too bad. Most companies give you a day off for every week out which works out to only having 4 days off a month. Considering how bad the economy currently is I'm not about to start complaining. Do me a favor and just wish me luck instead of being negative. Thanks.

 

I have done quite a bit of tanker yanking over the last 13 years or so and I think it is my favorite type of trucking. I was told that I will be doing quite a bit of hazmat hauling (chemicals) but to be honest it doesn't really matter. As long as i am getting paid to load, unload and drive. As far as Indian River goes...I used to work for them years ago. I made a great deal of money working for John Harned but I am not willing to stay out for 5 weeks or longer anymore. That is what they expect from their drivers and it's just not for me. Great equipment but I'll pass.
