Hi, does anyone knows if I have a MA CDL permit if I can be trained and tested at another state?

You can be trained in any state, but you have to be tested in whatever state you are being licensed. If you choose to be trained out of state, you can still test in MA. Some schools allow you to use their address to get licensed, then you just transfer to your home state.

So, I can’t be tested in another state if I am getting a MA CDL?

You cannot be tested for a MA license in another state because state laws/rules vary and the tester would not be certified to test you for a MA license. You can get, say tested in CT, get a CT license, then have it transferred to MA, though

Seems he already answered this. Both must be from same state.

Examiners are now allowed to test people with out of state permits. Been that way for several years now. If a state decides not to allow an examiner to do so that’s their business but the feds allow it.

TX requires you to hold a TX license. So that is one state that won't allow it.

When I first started testing we were allowed to test CLP holders of contiguous states. They stopped that but now with the newer federal computer system in which the test results are entered examiners are now allowed to test a CLP holder from any state and then the applicant is to return to his home state and that state would access the system and issue the CDL. For example if a MS CLP holder tests in TN then the applicant would return to MS, and MS would issue the CDL. I don’t know of any state that has chosen to opt out but I guess they could.
