Many drivers in my company have different ideas on what you can and can't use PC for. I'm going to post a few examples and you guys tell me if they are legal or not.

    1. Arriving at a shipper with 4 hours left on the clock, you go off duty and and leave the shipper with 2 hours on your 14 hour clock. You go into PC to get to a truck stop/rest area that is toward your final destination. What if you use it to go a truck stop away from your final delivery?

    2. You can't find parking late at night so you use personal conveyance to find a parking spot.

    3. You use PC from a truck stop to go to a shipper.

    4. You pull into a shipper with 5 minutes left on your 14 hour clock. You use PC to drive around the yard since you are out of time.

I'm pretty sure all of these are illegal but I just want to make sure and what do you do in a situation like #4?

3 is. 4 might be. 1 and 2 are ok. PC can be used to get to a safe place. Which 1 and 2 describe.

Number 4 is a yard move, it is personal property so hos do not apply, the first 3 are not legal, unless in scenario 1 you are out of drivetime, then you have to go to the nearest safe parking area regardless of direction.

#4 is easy. Use yard move.
All the others are falsifying logs. You can read Personal Conveyance | FMCSA to get what is allowed. If the drivers cannot handle logging legal, then you might want to remove the option.

Nope. The only time you can pc to find a safe spot is if you run out of time at a shipper/receiver and there is no parking there.

####, my eld doesn't have a yard move option. Any suggestions on what I should do in that scenario?

Are you the admin? If so simply enable it (and disable pc for the drivers falsifying logs}. If you don't find the option you can contact support for your device.

No. If you get to a truck stop and it is full you can as well. There are a few reasons.
