Good evening, First of all I work for a small company with 15 trucks, local, started in a 10 wheeler. I’ve had my CDL A since 10/2014. Stayed in that for a couple months before they moved me to an 18 wheeler end dump, I did that for a few months then I took over the lowboy for a year and a half I hauled equipment. I then took an office job as the fleet manager dispatching, keeping records, running the trucking side of the company since were split as a construction company with trucks. I was in that position for almost 2 years when I decided I wanted to drive again and work in the shop when I wasn’t driving. I have been back in the truck hauling cement and fly ash in pneumatics for 3 months and I enjoy it but I am thinking about going OTR. My question is does my experience count even though I’ve only driven around Oklahoma and sometimes down into Texas or up to Kansas. I don’t know how many miles I’ve driven, but I’ve had my class a’s for almost 6 years. Should I look into specialized hauling company’s like ATS that do lowboy kinda loads. I was thinking of doing refers or flat bed since I do have experience hauling OS/OW. Just looking for some advice on what to look for and what’s bs and what’s truth that all these companies are spewing. Thanks in advance

I don’t really have an answer for why I want to go otr, I make enough money doing what I do here, it’s just something that’s been on my mind a while. I love driving, But driving in Oklahoma can become monotonous quick. I have two violations for being oversized without a permit. Nothing else violation wise. I think reefer or flat bed would be a good fit.

I’ve seen a couple TFY trucks since I have been to Muskogee twice everyday this week, but I figured they were lease purchase and that’s not an option for me. I heard that lease purchase was basically a big scam am I correct in saying that?
