Today I'm travelling on 290 westbound and come up to construction zone, 45mph. Anyone who travels in IL knows that the flow of traffic is going 60mph minimal. I am doing 55 and before I realize it pass a "photo enforcement vehicle" and can't slow down in time.

Cars are passing me on the left but I had ample warning to slow down to 45, but risk getting hit from behind or disrupting flow of traffic.

Am I getting a ticket? How serious is this? I have video proof I was going slower than anyone next to me

You're going to prison. Make sure your soap is tethered.

What does it matter what everyone else passing you did? That won't hold any water in court. It's like talking to my son......I tell him all the time, it don't matter what everyone else did if you're the one who got caught......if you got a ticket, pay it and do better.

True, but there has to be some kind of threshold. They'd be pumping out thousands of violations an hour. I get nabbed for 54 in a 45 when everyone around me is doing 70? I also slowed down to 45 when no one else did, semis included.

My question is, I assume my company gets a ticket if one is issued. Then what?

I understand it is a moving violation as well. I might as well just find a new career from the sounds of it. My record is spotless, 15 years of driving and training. Just a bad moment I guess.

No need to find a new career....just do better. Everyone has received a ticket at one point or another.

Its a mandatory court appearance if you do get a ticket in the mail. If caught again within a 2 year period your license is suspended for 90 days.

    Hire a traffic attorney .

It goes to the company, so what happens to MY record? These are different from red light cameras but not sure how the process works.

I got my picture taken at a red light in Denver. Shortest yellow I have ever encountered. Called my manager right away and "mea culpa" myself. Never heard another word about it. Taking responsibility for one's mistakes can do wonders.
