"The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administrator Friday, Sept. 18, announced it is creating a new panel to its Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee (MCSAC) comprised of commercial motor vehicle drivers. A statement from the agency said the new panel will provide direct feedback to the FMCSA on issues facing the driving community such as safety, hours of service regulations, training, parking, and driver experience."
"According to a statement from the agency, the panel is to comprised of 20 to 25 drivers from all sectors of the commercial vehicle driving industry including tractor-trailer drivers, straight truck drivers, motorcoach drivers, hazardous materials drivers, agriculture haulers, and others.”
"“The Department of Transportation and this Administration believe in listening to our drivers and hearing their concerns directly,” said FMCSA Deputy Administrator Wiley Deck. “We know that many of the solutions to the challenges we face don’t come from Washington—they come from the hard-working men and women who are behind the wheel all over our nation."

Question is are these drivers from mega corporations or are they owner operators. It’s no secret that the Feds (FMCSA in particular) are notorious for putting on “dog and pony shows” to give the appearance that they’re listening to drivers.

Hopefully it will be a mix of both company and O/O's. Of course if it's like any other bureaucracy feel good plan, it's 25 yes men and it doesn't matter their employment status or field of work. They are there to make FMCSA be able to say "Yes, we do listen" even if what they hear it everything they want....bzinger, TheLoadOut, Doealex and 1 other person Thank this.

Here's who I nominate to send to the listening sessions.
Of course these are fictional characters, but the FMCSA doesn't recognize reality anyway.Flat Earth Trucker, 91B20H8 and nredfor88 Thank this. -
And send these 2 gentlemen as well, just for negotiating skills

Maybe we need to pay lawmakers the way truckers are paid. $1000 per law.
No, that won’t work.
Oh, how about $1000 per law and they are PERSONALLY liable for any affects of said law for life
Someone loses their business because some lawmakers thought an arbitrary 5% emissions reduction would get them re-elected? Yeah, sue for all lost income, every employee can sue for lost wages, and even the customers can sue for the expense of finding a replacement vendor.
Maybe THEN lawmakers would understand the stress of trucking.Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this. -
A bit too late after giving me a 17 hour day. I thought 14 was enough.
Flat Earth Trucker Thanks this.
