That's what a mailbox built by me would look like... I have a tendency to over-engineer stuff... And I like things built heavy duty.

I have one similar to that. Got tired of the High School seniors who came by with a baseball bat whacking everyone's mailbox. It is made from 1/4" plate steel mounted on a piece of 2" drill pipe 5' in the ground. I found a bent aluminum bat laying in the road shortly after installing.

In our neighborhood, we had a guy that lived on the corner. People would cut that corner all the time and drive through his yard, sometimes getting his mailbox. He finally put a steel post up. After the first knucklehead wiped out his front end word got around.

Well at least you know if you ever get a tornado you have something to anchor yourself to so you don't get blown away.

SE corner of the property is a sloping intersection. After a number of yrs of corn dogs taking out the fence line(horse pasture) then driving off I built a cement wall in their LZ. That was 5 yrs or so ago. Funny haven't had 1 corndog since.
