I have authority and IRP to run Interstate, but due to C19 the Texas Comptroller is dragging their feet in issuing IFTA account (almost a month since I filed and I haven't heard from them. I called them, they have my application; was told they are behind by 5-6 weeks). I have been moving freight just in Texas but would like to haul elsewhere. Buying Fuel Tax Permits in each state would be pricey. Wondering if I should just do it anyways, since I'm keeping track of mileage and fuel purchases with my ELD, and not worry about Fuel Tax Permits.
Any suggestions?

Their department isn't closed. I'd drive to them. Mine is in cali. They told me 2-3 weeks before covid. So I just drove there and walked out with my stickers

I filed in WY and had my IFTA paid the next day, are you required to file in TX? might be easier to file in another state, but if all else fails ring their phone off the hook and get their attention, they will push you through if you get on their radar.

I tend towards rule following, so your risk tolerance may be higher than mine...nikmirbre Thanks this. -
Hello!
I'm in TX too trying to get my interstate authority.
If you don't mind, what forms did you have to file for an IFTA account?
Are there two fuel tax forms for TX? One for TX and one for Interstate?
Thanks!
