Yes, his drive axles and trailer axles are overweight.

I suppose its possible that he could transfer that weight by sliding 5th wheel forward and tandems back... but it's hard to say without knowing where they are set now.

Then again, it's not over by much... I guess start by sliding 5th wheel forward and see where that gets you

He’s only got room for 10 gallons, even if he gets axles legal, that won’t get him far. If he can’t get the load reworked. I would slide the trailer forward, 2 holes, if possible. Put 50 gallons of fuel in, and run with it. He’ll have about 300 lbs over on Drives, May be overlooked at the scales. He’ll have to get 40-50 gallons every 250-300 miles. It all depends on where the scales are and if they’re open. Pa. Is probably not open today. Where’s he going? California? Better get the load fixed. Ohio? Run with it. Going to take a little planning.

WTH? Leave the trailer alone! Slide a couple holes forward on the 5th wheel, and that will leave him pretty well balanced.

Why would you not max out the trailer, if possible. That should be the first thing done, then try to slide 5th and transfer weight from drives to steers, if possible. The goal being to lighten up drives, for fuel. Hello?

If you had an APU then your allowed 400 over on the drives in most states.
