Well I just had a very difficult phone call with the head of safety at stream transport of Minnesota. Here in Missouri today, one of his drivers rolled through a stop sign . Yes yet another semi truck not stopping for a stop sign, this happened to me about 3 weeks ago. So I almost got hit again and I was able to get the phone number for the company and I noticed that they were out of Minnesota. So I called and the man who answered said that he would take the complaint. I heard nothing back from him which is fine but the way that he spoke on the phone with me made me truly believe that there was no way safety was of any importance to him. I texted him telling him that I would like to hear back from him after he spoke to the driver and if I didn't I would just go to the dot with my video footage. He tried calling me back, I was fueling at the time and when I got back in my truck i saw he had called me back. He sent me a text message saying that because of Covid I should try to understand why truckers are driving more unsafe these days and that I should be thankful that I don't have to be a trucker and that I can be home warm in my bed every night LOL and he said that he was trying to get a hold of me LOL but he called once. This really upset me so I did call him back and I proceeded to tell him that his text message was extremely offensive because I'm a trucker who stays out for at least 3 months at a time while HE sleeps in his warm bed every night. I would agree that I spoke to him in a more raised voice, but I definitely was not yelling at him and he accused me of yelling LOL. For the next 3 minutes all he did was yell LOL there were a couple sentences that he wanted me, as a truck driver, to try to understand why his drivers drive the way they do. He tried to tell me his background coming from Russia and I said we're getting away from the point. Honestly, I really did not care about his background story and what he supposedly went through to get where he's at. I explained to him that as his text message suggested, there should be no reason for any driver ever to drive unsafely and that we are supposed to be professional drivers and that that is one of the most important aspects of our job. He completely disregarded that statement and suggested that I must be bipolar for the one sentence where I raised my voice before he yelled at me the whole rest of the conversation LOL. Even when I tried to tell him that I was an over the road truck driver and I stay out as long as I do, he was not listening to me at all. In fact, he started to treat me even more disrespectfully after I told him I was also a driver. he was only trying to make excuses as to complain about cars and how nobody wants to get behind a semi . He had absolutely no interest in my side of his driver rolling through the stop sign and cutting me off. He just kept accusing me of driving a car and telling me that I should understand that cars are not good around semis and that, again, nobody wants to get behind a semi. He didn't care at all. Again, all he could do was make excuses and tell me that if I really was a truck driver, I would understand why drivers drive unsafely. I told him that he was part of the problem and that I've been noticing a lot of this type of driving behavior from drivers from his part of Europe where he comes from. Then I hung up and blocked his number, but not before he tried to get my name and work information. it was disgusting. This guy should not be in charge of any type of safety measures anywhere, for any job. The behavior of his drivers is transparently always acceptable and he will always make excuses for their dangerous activity.
I don't know about you guys, but I see such a huge increase in this type of behavior and I don't know, how can we just sit back and be okay with it? I live in a city where these people are driving through daily and I have adult children who are out on the road driving. These drivers scare the s*** out of me. I really don't want to quit driving because I love it. I just wish that there was some way to successfully help us be safer on the road. It's very interesting LOL how our safety is jeopardized by other truckers. There truth is that it's not funny at all.

Maybe the driver isn't even able to make complete stops. In fact, I'm seeing a growing trend in this from these types of drivers

I understood from my last thread that there is an organization besides the DOT. I think it was loa?? Who has more authority? Who can I report the more dangerous drivers to? What authority can I expect to get things done? Does anybody have any recommendations please?

Also, should I be worried about my house and car after talking to this guy? He has my phone number and we live in the same vicinity of Minnesota. I don't mean to bring up such a complex topic and I don't want to automatically accuse anyone of having any ties to any groups but I'm sure this guy isn't very happy after our phone call and me hanging up. I know the guy I spoke to on the phone sure was dirty and extremely unprofessional, do I have anything to worry about? I'm sure he has bigger fish to fry but it's not like he can't do an extra one off on the side...

This "safety" guy sounds like a real piece of work. Can't hurt to contact the DOT.

I'm not saying you were in the wrong, but you sure do run into a lot of problems out there on the road.
