    And with an Acert Cat it will really drink the fuel if you get much over 15-1600 rpm or so.

    Adamali21 Thanks this.

    I’m only saying my experience and what we were told when we got some first gen Acerts in 2005 and carried the habit of staying below 1500 as much as possible with the 07’s and 09’s. Fuel is cheap now but if it goes back up I’d weigh fuel cost versus dropping in some 3.36 rears.

    So basically if I wanted to drop gearing I would only have to change out my differential or what other components do have to change. This is for future purposes.

    Aero Kenworths also didn't have mufflers in the stack like older trucks. Big muffler mounted under the cab/sleeper.

    @Goodysnap
    If the OP's diff's were still good and his gearbox went bad, isn't there a gearbox with a different end gear ratio that would compensate for the smaller tires?

    Hello everyone
    This post is the closes to the problem I'm facing so I hope someone can help.
    I've been hauling construction equipment under 30000lbs with a mack setup at 48" and a 45' triple axle step deck designed for that height for almost a year.
    The company I work for took it out of service and gave me a Perterbilt setup at almost 54" so I can haul both step deck and low bed trailers.
    I'm having problems with the step deck with the 5 1/2 inch height difference and I'm having trouble explaining why it's wrong.
    With my normal load of a backhoe and 4 road plates (35000lbs) loaded all to the front of the trailer puts my rear trailer axle at 16500lbs and middle axle at 15400lbs so I'm technically still legal. BC Canada allows a maximum 1000kg(2200lbs) difference
    Besides my front trailer axle locking up on medium applications and greatly reducing my maximum weight on the trailer, any other good points I can argue?

    Loss off height because your trailer isn't level.

    Fan solenoid on a W9 is on the passenger side firewall. At least that’s where is was on my 05 and 07.
