1st question on bulk loads website what is the difference or meaning between a live bottom trailer and a belt trailer? From what I gather it looks like a live bottom is more of a conveyor and belt has flaps?

2nd question which would be more versatile or are the basically the same?

3rd question would a belt or live bottom be as versatile as an end dump? I know they are safer than end dump and can unload places end dumps can’t. But could they haul the same thing? I know end dump is lighter.

Live bottom generally means walking floor. Belt floor can be smooth belt or flaps. Aggregate sucks in a walker,it chews up the slats. I've hauled all kinds of crap in belt trailers. Wet loads in winter can mean digging out the entire load. The belt can freeze to the floor.

10-4 thanks for the info. I know what a walking floor is in a van mostly for garbage, but on bulk loads they have walking floor, live bottom and belt trailer listed in types of loads. To me a belt and live floor means same thing walking floor definitely van walking floor. Thanks tho just curios I’ve pulled end dumps and trying to decide which is more versatile. Sounds like other than the safety aspect stuff still freezes either way

I’ve always heard people refer to belt trailers when they have the flaps and a live bottom when it’s more of a solid belt like a conveyor.

Well, shoot. Now I'm confused. Was looking around on truckpaper, Keith is calling their walkers live floor. Red river calls their smooth belt a live bottom. I dunno.

To me, a belt trailer is any trailer with a belt. A walking floor has the slats and you can also load palletized freight. And a live floor has full width chains similar to a silage trailer. Just to add to the confusion. Lol
