Car hauling

Look at the rear squat in the picture which obviously means less steering control. I get out of the way when I see wedges near me.

 

My chassis cab doesn't squat nearly as much as the pickup trucks. I'm guessing the pickups have much softer suspension than the chassis cabs

 

Them are some wild front extensions man.!
I'm guessing they ain't flips, & are permanently attached because they are so long.? Look like 4-5 footers from the pic..

Not necessarily a loss in steer control. As long as the goose ball, or 5th is a few inches forward of the drive axle, it should be loading the steer axle a few pounds.. Now if the coupling is behind the drive, or a tag along style with squat like that, yeah it will be stealing weight from the steer axle..

He is blinding oncoming traffic with the headlights pointed up, & it looks a little funny. I'd be more concerned taking on/off ramps, 90° turns in the citys, & evasive maneuvers with the front car up so high..

This picture of rear squat is slightly exacerbated because of the terrain.. Here's my scale ticket to show the steer did gain some weight. Not much, but no loss of steer traction whatsoever..

4 ft welded extensions,I never haul that heavy usually so it hasn't squatted that much since lol the f250 was diesel and had big ### rims and tires in the bed and half full auxillary tank.

The 1500 had the stock rims and tires in the back also.

Usually don't scale over 31k

Might need to go heavy more often if these super truckers will steer clear of me with their phone in one hand and frito bag in the other crying about duallys. Gonna miss it when I get my single axle in January.

When you say $.75 per mi, is that total load or $.75 per car?

 

Singlescrewshaker do you just hook those ramps to the trailer and drive that truck on ?

Yeah, if you zoom in on the back of the wagon, you can see the ramp seats with pins. Pull the pin, set ramp in seat, insert the pin so it can't jump off. The stands have pins also, so you can pin 2 ramps together for 16'..

I get away with just using 8' sometimes, but mostly use all 16'. It kinda sucks on short loads like these vans I just did today. Set up & breaking down 500lbs of ramps in the same day is rough..

As the great Gary always said, gotta be versatile if you want to run light!! Still sticks with me..
