Good equipment All trucks have APUs stable well managed company with a good freight base . Below average length of haul Equals below average miles and pay especially for regional drivers. Home time is average for road drivers and below average for regional. A lot of weekend layovers Company frowns on driver going through the house with a load. A lot of wasted time due to grocery warehouses. Depending on where you live you may find a niche at Marten. Was once a good place to work now just mediocre/

Well I will have to disagree. Miles a good for this economy. They don't care if you take a load home as long as you can secure it. Some parts of SoCal it will be a no no regardless. Home time is good and they guaranty that you will be home on-time our they pay you extra for it. Reg dose not mean that you won't see Texas or Denver or Wa. It just means that 90% of your loads will be in one area. If they have a load going out side of it and they need you to run it then run it you will. Over all a good company to work for.

Kabar, how long have you been with marten? My husband is just starting out in trucking again after 11yrs. of working construction. His dad worked for marten until he passed away of a heart attack. He is hoping to go to work for Marten as soon as he gets enough recent experiance.

Been hear a month. Very fair company. They have there rules but are up front about them and tell you what they are and you can deal with it or not. Most of them are reasonable.

Marten is a refrigerated carrier with a lot of live load and unloads.
This means waiting and scheduling difficulties. With short haul freight you need to string together multiple loads to get miles. Martens dispatchers are not up to the task they simply have to many trucks. Marten does not allow you to park at a truck stop when going home. They deliberately keep drivers off loads that would take them through the house. lastly Marten experimented with electronic logs then dropped the idea because of scheduling problems. Average miles per truck are about 2000 per week.If you live near a major customer or terminal you may do all right . Like any big company you may find a niche. Martens recruiting ads are vague and promise very little, their turnover is high. Good luck
