As long as you don't get your heart set on him being home on any certain day or weekend you will do much better. My hubby had his 300 hrs and they kept him out. Then his trainer was due his hometime so he had to stay in a hotel for 2 days then he got tested out. I think it was more than a week later after he had his 300 hrs. Then they sent him home by bus to wait for the truck and his partner to be routed this way. He was home I think 10 days. Just go with the flow. I know its hard but you will get along better yourself if you don't expect him home until he tells you that he is on his way to your town.

I have a question for some of you out there that have been at Werner for awhile. This is what happened. My hubby and his partner put in hometime a week ago and they were to get home Wed or Thurs. They were in Miami Flordia and the were then in Columbus Ohio on Tues which is 1 hour from home. We then thought maybe they will get him home. They were then sent to Kansas and still thought maybe Thurs. Well today they were sent to Colorado. The thing is they kept telling the dispatcher that they were almost out of hours. Now they will have to sit for those 36 hours in Colorado with no pay when they could of been on their hometime as part as this turn around time. Later they will get home and there will be no pay for those days.

I really think that the dispatcher isn't doing his job or listening to what the guys are saying. This cuts into the pay big time. Is there a way to make this work better. Or get a new dispatcher?

Have you been talking to my bf?? He keeps telling me to not get my heart set on him coming home this weekend. I figure after the 300 hours is up, he's tested and then maybe gets some home time before getting his own truck and maybe a teammate too but I know that might not be the case.
His route is local so I would rather pick him up and take him home rather than have him stay at a hotel or get bussed anywhere if that's what happens but I have no idea what will happen yet.
The trainer has yet to mention anything about testing him or telling him what his hours are to date so he's just in the dark and keeps driving.

Just to be clear what happened when my hubby was with the trainer. We live in Ohio near the Springfield Terminal. He ended testing out in Florida because that is where his trainer lives and he was heading for hometime. After he tested out he was then sent home on a bus.
Every story is different. His friend that he teamed with was out over 10 weeks till he got home time and it was only for 2 days! We really felt bad for him. He even has kids at home. :biggrin_25513: I know my hubby didn't like taking the bus from Flordia to Ohio and changing buses twice but at least for us he was able to be home for awhile with me.
Just hang in there. Just try not to look to far ahead and get through one day at a time. You will find it does go faster that way some how.:biggrin_25525:

If they only gave me two days after ten weeks... Well I don't know what I would do but it wouldn't be purty. KMA comes to mind.

Well my bf is down to his last 10 hours. The trainer seems to be testing him along the way, insteading of taking time and testing him on everything at once. So far the bf's passing but not with the highest marks.
Ex: the bf said he was tested on in specting the truck but everytime he got going the trainer said "skip that" and moved him to a dif part of the truck. My bf knows everything but the trainer was to lazy, I guess, to stand there and hear it all.
Ex: Trainer took bf to an empty dock/lot and testing his backing docking/parking skills. After my bf did it, the trainer said he didn't give him the highest score because he wanted the bf to do it tighter as if there was another truck there. Well then why didn't the trainer say it from the beginning?
    GRRR
well so the SDM called my bf and told him the only job available is the 48 states. 6 weeks out, 2 weeks home. But the SDM told my bf it prob wouldn't be a prob pairing him with his friend.
So assuming my bf passes everything - that's where he's off to. The details aren't completely set yet.

Something is wrong with this picture. I have been told they can authorize no more than 5 days off at a time. Keep us posted.

You're right I had it mistaken. 6 weeks off, 1 week home.

Well my bf called this morning fuming. He got a 2 out of 3 on the docking part for the example I wrote about before but now he found out he got a 2 for straight backing as well.
I dunno how my bf found this out but when he did he asked the trainer how he got a 2 on the straight backing test when they hadn't even done that yet.
The trainer said he tested him on that as part of the 90 degree backing test. My bf voiced that it wasn't fair since he didn't know about it and the trainer said if you didn't know about it "that's your fault" and my bf responded that the trainer, as the teacher conducting this test, he should have informed my bf of that.
In the end the trainer said that if my bf wanted to dispute his test results he can request to be tested by Werner but that Werner is going to make the test impossibly hard because they are "looking to fail you".
Is that true? Should my bf accept his 2 grade and not be retested by Werner. Is it in Werner's best interest to fail drivers?
The only good news is that the bf talked to his buddy and his buddy will do the 48 with him and isn't as far off on hours as we thought. We are not sure as of yet how Werner will coordinate my bf meeting up with his buddy and them traveling the 48 together.
As of this morning my bf's 300 hrs are done but when he called fuming about his test I didn't get to ask where he is and what's going to happen next... we're hoping he gets to come home and wait out his buddy so that he can grab some stuff for own truck.

So are you saying that Werner will fail him for his grades?
