Hello everyone, this is the first time posting here but I had a question about my current job and hope I can get some good advice. I am currently working for a small trucking company that transports wheat midds. This is my first driving job after getting my cdl last year in June. I have been working now for almost 3 months and am curious what you all thought about my pay. I am getting paid currently 28% of what the company makes per load and this is supposed to go up to 30% at 6 months. My average paycheck for a week is around 850 but it seems like I am working a lot of hours for that, usually 60+. I know I need to get the experience to get to the better freight and I also have baggage of my own like probation, and an at fault driving accident on my record from 2018. Any thoughts?

Considering your "baggage" I would say you're doing pretty good. Stick around for one full year then reconsider your options. Stay safe and keep your driving record clean. Best of luck!

P.S. is it $800 take home? Is it a local job?

Any benefits currently? Any long time drivers at this company? Year around work? Home everyday? Close to your house? Etc., etc.
A lot goes into whether you are getting a decent deal or not/

You can make a lot more somewhere else, even with the felony.
Try this company where paychecks run from $1000 - $1500 weekly plus benefits.
Magnum has their own cdl school and also hires new cdl school grads and drivers with little experience. Drivers with some baggage are hired.
Can take pet and rider with you.

How often are you getting home? Major factor right there. Personally, you need to stick out your first year at one company regardless of baggage. You HAVE baggage (accident is bad baggage) so you definitely HAVE to stay at your first company for a full year. Your pay isn't horrible, but it isn't great. I'd just mention to your DM that you need to have a bit more coming in (don't complain, come with a positive attitude) and see if they can make it happen for you.

I.E "Hey there, I am trying to elevate myself financially right now and purchase a home (or whatever) and I am wondering if there were any improvements you thought I could make in order for me to bring in more money each week? (Listen, recap what they say, if they say nothing, or after recapping pop back with) Ok great! I appreciate the advice and you guys working with me. I am going to start working on those things right away, would you guys also be able to work with me on finding a few better paying loads so we can both make this happen?"

Recap: Being nice and professional will get you 10x further than being rude. Your pay is OK, especially w/ the baggage. First year you must stay w/ one company.
