Yeah I saw that. It's a rip off. I have learned in this business everyone associated with class 8 trucks feels they can stick their hands in your pockets and give you a good fondle.I have admitted to being cheap. I just can't do it. I will probably hit a deer tomorrow while I decide if I'm getting screwed or not. I have had a custom built boat top with 8 rocket launchers built for less than that.

LMFAO if you think that chincy little $900 "deer bumper" is going to be effective against more than a rabbit!

The smaller Ex-Guard is my favorite one, 125 I think it is. Not sure what the cost though. My current truck has one of those generic chrome ones that you just buy whatever mounting bracket kit you need. I think it was around $600. They do a decent job, a smaller impact you’ll get away with just replacing the bar as opposed to the significantly more expensive body work behind it. A big animal is obviously going to do damage regardless but if it saves even the radiator it’s already more than paid for itself. I’ve heard carriers can get a small insurance discount having them installed

Company I'm with, they run Ali-Arc full guards, and they keep moving them from truck to truck as they upgraded. I haven't seen the aftermath of a deer strike with one, but the owner swears by them saving money overall. When I'm on my own, I'll likely buy the one from Iowa 80 that attaches by the tow hook mounts.

You want to see a real mess, the tanker driver who nudges over a little and thinks he missed it only to arrive at the customer and discover that the tank ladder didn't miss and now he needs to climb up that ladder to get the receiver a sample...
Usually most of bambi ends up on the hose tube and rear fender...not much left to salvage for the freezer.
Usually stinks pretty good by the time it gets to a wash rack.Last edited: Oct 15, 2020
