I work as an independent contractor delivering different types of company vehicles. And often have my personal car flat towed behind them. I’ll keep the story short as possible. I came up on a pickup truck with a very insecure load of various types of scrap metal just waiting to fall out. The vehicle I’m delivering cannot have any damage on it so I make a lane change to get around. I had plenty of room to move over but the vehicle coming up without a doubt was speeding. And the very rear side of my personal vehicle being towed hit their front bumper. Extremely minor damage. All the damage on my car will buff out. And idk if the other guy will make an insurance claim.
The other party calls the cops. The cop gives me an unsafe lane change ticket, copy of other parties info but no roadside inspection was done. And I told my company about the accident and ticket. This happened outside of my home state as well.
After researching the ticket I learned unsafe lane change is a serious infraction and I’m planning on getting an attorney to fight the ticket. So I also came across another thread saying that unless there was an inspection done the accident won’t be reported to DOT thus not going on my CSA. Correct? Is the same thing true with tickets? Meaning the unsafe lane change citation won’t be reported on my CSA since there wasn’t a roadside inspection? Or am I completely off on my understanding and incorrect?
Totally clean driving record and am pretty confused on how this all works. Any info or advice would be really appreciated
Minor accident, ticket received with no inspection.

It won't be reported on whoever holds the authority of the motor carrier's CSA data, and as an extension it will not be on your PSP report as they are the same data. It requires an inspection to effect either.
You don't need an inspection to have a dot recordable. It's a list of a few things that escape me at the moment. I doubt from what you claim it's serious enough to qualify.UsualSuspect and Bean Jr. Thank this. -
And as far as the ticket goes. Definitely get an attorney and fight to get it reduced or dropped right?Bean Jr. Thanks this. -

You can try calling Roadlaw they have att. in most all co. in states away from your home base, and they may handle it without you having to be in court?
