Drivers here have asked about this place and after looking around the net i found a little something from their own website that i think speaks volumes about their work!
* MOD'S If this breaks some kind of rule that i'm not aware of then i'm sorry, just remove the posting if that's the case. I just thought since i have seen so many here ask about good/bad shops and about this one in general,i thought i would post this so they would know what kind of shop they are. One that should be avoided!*
This is a testimonial taken from their website that someone who had radio work done by them, sent them.
Now guys pay attention to this statement.
ANYTIME you have a radio that will bleed like this from 30 miles aways means that the limiters have been removed and the modulation has been cranked way way up. It also means that most likely the tech as done a few things to the radio in order for it to show more power on a Dosy meter ( so you will spend your hard earned money ) when in actuality, the radio produces no more ( real ) power. This mod only causes massive amounts of harmonics >read big loud and distorted< which is seen by the meter as power but only causes bleed over! Doing anything like this also destroys the sound quality on SSB unless you turn the mike gain waaaaay back, but then whats the point.
This statment as well.
louder and alot cleaner
There is no way on Gods green earth that any radio bleeding that bad will be clean up close.Loud as hell yes. Clean, aint no way in hell. Oh it may sound clean 30+ miles away but not up close!
If any of you ever wondered what kind of techs these guys are then this should answer your question. The 2995 will do 175+ watts ( i have 2 ) with a basic tune and be clean and loud but not bleed on anything or anyone. This means NOT REMOVING OR ADDING ANYTHING which is what they did to this 2995! If these guys will do this to the very best base radio for sale ( $600.00 ) on the markets today then just think what they will do to your little mobile radio!
Disclamer- This was taken from there own website under, maul dropping testmonials. Go see it for your selves. So if any of the techs or costomers see this and conplain about it then it should have not been posted by them in the first place. To most people who see this they think that..wow,anyradio that bleeds like this most have a boat load of power>read big radio! To those of us that know what to do and what not to do to a radio this only reflects the poor quality of work that they do!
STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!

They are hacks!!! Fancy website draws you in but they hack a radio to make dirty loud power that shortens the life of the radio.
-
Come on CT ..... your jellous your radios only bleed over at 29 miles not 30 !
One of the officers last year brought one into the shop it was SO BAD the IFR-1200 scope look like a christmas tree ....the only thing that stop the trash was the bandwidth of the transmitter .....
now where is that list of bad shops .... -
I guess where just going to have to sit back and wait for the mods to get home from work. I just hope they will go for it,really would be a good thing.

google radio shop blacklist
you will find a bunch -
LOL you mean if I paid them to "super hack crap" my radio it won't sound clear as a bell to anyone for a 30 mile radius around me?????

Seriously this is good advice given here.....I have learned that most truck stop CB shops are similar to RAR....they'll "feed" you a line of "well i can make your radio do 60 watts out of the box for $XX.XX"....and then they'll hook up the "happy meter" or also known as a "feel good" meter and do whatever they do....removing limiters....cranking up pots....then take your money and hand it back to you....then you wonder why no one wants to respond to you when you key up.
And then you have the trucks that "were told" if you "do this and that" you can make your radio the big dog of them all....
Truth be told, you can't get blood from a turnip, and a radio is no different. Sure you might get an extra few more watts out of them but you can only go but so far before the radio sounds like crap. Is that really what you want? A crappy radio?
And yes too much cranking on them will cause you to bleed over, or be heard on adjacent channels. Again that's not what you want.
You want to be heard loud and clear first and foremost. If you need power then that's where linears come in. But even then you have to be careful because even a linear can make you sound like crap over the air waves.
Now, there's one CB shop I like...and that's Sparkys...because he won't do something a radio can't do...for instance I wanted him to do an RFX75 mod on one of my radios...he's done extensive testing to find out what radios the mod works on and which ones it won't. He adviced me he won't do it on the radio i wanted it done on because it won't work right. Hey I admire anyone that doesn't blow smoke up my rear trying to make a dollar. Honest people get my respect and make me want to be their customer. -
I had the first or one of first, Cobra Black Chrome 29 w/the RFX 75 that Sparky's did after the EKL Powerband originally came out. He spent alot of bench time on that particular radio. Matter of fact he wanted to run the radio at his shop for better part of two weeks to insure that there was no failure in the RFX install. Being a brand new add on Al wanted to make sure that every precaution was taken before sending the radio back. Not just slingin the radio out the door and back to the consumer to make a fast buck.

To the folks that have those radios that splatter all over the other channels and say they do that because of the power, the analogy is like a weapon, you use a rifle to shoot a long distance, not a scattergun!
-
NO THEY ARE DIRTY ..... Look at one on a spectrum scope
-
I have two of the RAR built Connex that work really well, fame and fortune
have brought demise to what was "once" a pretty good "name".
With the advent of mods like the RFX 75 and soon to be released RFX 175
10 Meter radio prices just wont compete in watts/price compaired to a 25/29 Cobra thats RFX modded.
