I was always a part of the syncrud 500, leaving immediately after work. On Thursdays I would always eat dinner then go.
I've had too many numerous close calls, caused by others.
    My 2 favorites are:
Pulling out to pass as soon as the lines go solid
And the ole logging truck pulling onto the highway without even trying to stop at the stop sign, rear lights all snowed over, and a 0 to 60 time of 6 minutes. At least 1 person dies on that highway every year because of that.
When I would pass the logging truck after trying to kill me, I'd usually toss the apple at him from my lunch.
Several times I've had morons pass me, and I've said "he's going to kill someone". Half our later im sitting on the highway because they did.
This was mainly back in the boom years, before it was twinned. The highway does nothing wrong. Its just sits there. There are some dangerous spots that required care and attention. Its the human factor that gave it the reputation of "death highway to the oilsands"

    Yep, that's the place.

Traffic wasn't too bad. A little on 275 for a couple miles and that was it.

Yep, but I don’t want one for writing; my typewriter hasn’t been cleaned in decades (finally got the precision screwdrivers I need) but it still works like a dream minus a stuck key here and there; there’s something about the sound it makes when the keys strike the paper and how the carriage releases and goes back to the beginning once you’ve reached the edge of your page that I love; it’ll outlast any lousy computer :D
