It ain't just truckers, for the most part nobody has seen pay increases. Now to be fair, the cost to operate a truck company has gone through the roof so when drivers quit as much as they do, can you blame them for not opening the checkbook? I believe even if the trucker pay was 110,000 per year, the industry would still have trouble keeping drivers. People want that type of money......but within a 40 hr work week.

There's a lot of people that have seen a pay increase. Minimum wage is no longer $3.35. It's now $15.

You are definitely applying to the wrong companies. There are companies that treat you very well and pay 80 to 90k, even upwards of 100k per year. Get away from the megas and seek out the smaller outfits.
Oh, and I don’t want to hear no driver shortage until you’ve actually had to find and hire a good driver. It’s nearly impossible in some parts of the country. (And my opinion is highly esteemed)

CannonRun, kylefitzy, Truckermania and 1 other person Thank this. -
It’s happening right now. Why do you think rates are up? It’s not because of a lack of equipment, but a lack of operators to operate this equipment. It’s why rates are thru the roof but new truck orders haven’t hardly even moved.

There's a shortage of drivers that can drive a manual. We're becoming obsolete.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

Over 88,00 truckdrivers lost their jobs in April. Some have returned to a truck but many have not and never will. In the meantime the megas are not churning out drivers at the rates they were pre-Covid, around 500,000 a year. Is there a shortage. Maybe of good qualified drivers.
bryan21384 and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
As well as immigration has come to a halt. But yeah, good qualified drivers are extremely hard to come by.
