My radar is good for wind as well. Shows u what direction its blowing. Was using it the other day while driving from billings where the wind was blowing like crazy. Dont think i wouldve been driving if i didnt have a flatbed.lovesthedrive, Rideandrepair, stuckinthemud and 5 others Thank this.

Dave is 100% correct on this... @Wasted Thyme until you have ALOT of experience it would be in your best interest to just park it when winds get over 40 mph.
Ive had a few REALLY close calls with the wind in WY, probably about the most terrifying moments of my life. I'm sitting here because the wind is 5 mph higher than I'm comfortable with, where many drivers wouldnt even consider trying with a load as light as mine.
Ive got 3 full winters going back and forth across WY twice a week under my belt... Plus several years of driving experience outside of WY.... Ive got my little "rules-of-thumb"... But I have ZERO proof that those rules are always safe, I only have what ive learned by experience... Which could fail me at anytime, given the right conditions. And conditions in WY can change drastically in minutes, which is part of the reason that WY in winter is so dangerous... WY winter weather is an excellent teacher, but she also has ZERO tolerance for errors.
All that said... ALWAYS ERROR ON THE SIDE OF CAUTION!!! if you dont feel safe driving in ANY conditions... Then park it.DrFlush, LoSt_AgAiN, lovesthedrive and 9 others Thank this. -
I only hate gusting wind.
simply because the rocking of the cab makes me wild after a few hoursLoSt_AgAiN, otterinthewater, lovesthedrive and 4 others Thank this. -
That stretch were 90 crosses the Yellowstone River at Livingston is deadly... If its blowing at all I get off 90 and go through Livingston.
@Wasted Thyme you see that red spot in the lower right corner of the map Dave posted??? THAT is the most dangerouse stretch of Interstate in the country IMO... And that red spot is why I'm still parked on Sidney.DrFlush, LoSt_AgAiN, lovesthedrive and 8 others Thank this. -
A friend had almost that exact setup on the rear of his skate.. loved lighting up morons.LoSt_AgAiN, lovesthedrive, Dale thompson and 3 others Thank this.

Yep thats where i was at.. Man it was blowing so hard . It cracked my fiberglass antenna on the passanger side. It basically bent it in half with the crosswind. All the guys pulling vans was pulled off in the rest areas . Only trucks was flatbeds and a couple vans going down the road at about 40mph... i was empty with a flatbed and a 11.6ft tall truck and i was considering parking it ... wind , i hate itLoSt_AgAiN, lovesthedrive, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this.
