Why would you not ask Amazon directly instead of a forum full of, "armchair cowboys"?

Hey now. I don't use my arm chair.

I use the steering wheel instead.

Diesel Dave, User666 and ZVar Thank this.

I have contacted them. I did so right before posing my question to this forum. I didn't realize then that I would get the responses I have. My magic eight ball said "Ask again" so I did.

Gotcha but if you had your answers; why bother asking here? I can understand your frustration of not getting useful answers to your questions. However, it's highly advisable to go to the source instead of insulting people trying to help you. People are genuinely trying to assist you so please do get angry if they don't give the answers you want to hear. If you've crunched the numbers and after shelling out all the added insurance expenses and they work for you then great! Please come back prove all the other failures wrong.

Just because one driver gets into a wreck on I95 doesn't mean ALL drivers should avoid I95. Same with brokers and shippers. I didn't ask a question in judgement of others. I asked because I thought there might be an actual person on this forum, hauling for Amazon, that could answer the question about worker's comp BEFORE Amazon got back to me...which they still haven't. The $730 it cost me to add $50k trailer coverage would be worth it if I got 1 load from Amazon's load board while I'm stuck out in BFE somewhere. I don't know why everyone acts as if Amazon is so different than everyone else hosting loads.

I used to haul loads when there were still phones at the table to call the receiver for directions into their facility while watching loads scroll across the TV. Paying a few bucks to have access to a large database of freight doesn't seem like a bad business decision to me. I'm not a driver needing to be home every night nor am I looking for direct contracts. I'm a driver needing to have options to reduce empty miles. Access to loads is how you do that. If I want to hunt antelope in NM after delivering elsewhere, I need loads to get me close. I need loads afterwards too. The more access to freight I have, the better I will be able to go where I want. I miss OTR and can't wait to see the country again.

Saying crap like "let him go broke" is a bunch of crap and unnecessary. If that's the "help" you were talking about, no thanks. There have been a few helpful replies, so thanks to those of you that offered that support.

Sounds like you have a plan and are on a mission, sir. The industry has changed dramatically since then and places like Amazon will not be looking to you in a symbiotic fashion. It's going to be what's best for them 100 percent. Their rates are absolute garbage. I sincerely hope you can prove all the horror stories I've read right here wrong. I also would love to hear about your experience after you've moved forward with them and some time has passed. Remember that hundreds of drivers have been in your shoes in this particular situation with Amazon and there will be hundreds after you so your experiences would be of huge benefit to them too. Please come back and tell us about it?

Guys, you can't get angry at ANYONE or ANY COMPANY for them conducting THEIR business, THEIR methods, and charging THEIR rates.

If you don't like it, don't take it. It's THEIR business to make as much money as possible...same as YOU! They aren't responsible to you for YOUR profits. I don't care that someone FEELS like they got the shaft. We ALL have gotten the shaft at some point.

I learned the last time I was OTR to post my truck on every load board I could before I ever left a shipper with the date one day after delivery was expected. I spent the entire drive usually talking and making friends with brokers that kept me running because I respected the fact that they are just people with families trying to make a buck and get back home. They have a job to do. Some of them suck at it, but so do drivers. Amazon will not be any different. If you aren't treating people with respect and empathy, folks are not going to care about your success. If you have a real relationship with people, it's hard for them not to care about your success.

The topic of Amazon always gets heated. I for one have no experience with them and they are on my "Do not go" list because of all the horror stories I've read on here and just witnessing the long lines and trucks waiting at the Las Vegas warehouse as I pass by, plus the fact that I never ever see an Amazon truck just cruising down the road, they are always flying. But to each his own and I do wish anyone luck on their endeavors, maybe you can share your experiences with them once you've worked with them.

You don’t need comp for relay. They’ll approve you without it. The rates are stupid cheap, like $1.30 a mile cheap. Good luck.
