Yeah,
I'm new to driving big rigs but not to real hairy roads. Colorado native, and I'd say we have some pretty ugly ones when the weather hits. I-70 around vail pass has been a reoccurring nightmare for semis when the snow hits, slickest roads I've seen ever were in Vail. Also any pass that is not on the interstate in colorado is going to be as bad or worse. I-70 Is maintained more frequently during the snowstorms but still gets shut down a few times every year to clear the semis off the mountain. If one stops or gets bogged down more stop behind that one, it's hard to get into the left hand lane to pass slow trucks because smaller vehicles are moving in them with a full head of steam to make it to the top. When a semi does manage to get over, it slows everyone down behind the semi, and eventually the whole road gets blocked off by vehicles... I hear there's real good money in the towing business up that way
What are the most dangerous roads / mountain passes in the lower 48

Probably already called out but I find hills like Cabbage the worst. As I grew up in the mountains my perspective may be off but the hills that transition from dry snow to wet always seem to cause problems unless you know to go even slower at the top. Once you get close to 32 degrees things get slick fast.
I deal with the sisters all the time and those hills are really only dangerous if you don't know mountain driving.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Northbound grapvine is nasty. Mostly because the road is so torn up.

Hwy 50 from Tahoe down into Carson City can get real interesting when it's snowing.

There are hundreds of roads in the US that depending on conditions can be VERY dangerous. ANY road can instantly turn into a dangerous situation that can lead up to a fatal outcome. Getting into this mindset well I'm not on Cabbage, Saluda, or coming off Monteagle so I don't have to mind my driving can GET YOU KILLED! As a professional driver, you MUST respect ALL grades, especially in the winter.
I'm not going to play this list the most dangerous. Because THEY ALL ARE!!Six9GS, Gearjammin' Penguin and FerrissWheel Thank this. -
