If it’s such a nice truck and he put all that work in it why wouldn’t you just keep it? A home garage rebuild is worth $0 to me on resale value. Cat house rebuild has “some” value because of the warranty. I’m with uncle Jimmy on this one. $25k tops and I think that’s a stretch? This is not a well spec truck either. Cat, 10 spd, 3.90..... not really relevant on today’s 70 plus mph roads.
Not much of a paint job either?

If that’s a light bar under the bumper he can keep the whole truck at any price.
