Tripac Evolution VS Tripac Envidia

I've never heard anything good about battery powered APUs. Those batteries are going to need to be replaced every few years and most say those things won't go over about 8 hours.

Just my opinion, I haven't used one. For Florida though? I'd go Tripac. Mine has been almost completely trouble free. One fuel line leak and oil change in 3 years so far. It has several thousand hours on it.

What's the price difference?

 

I have done a lot of research on both and have to say the tripac is the way to go. Just a better all around system that has more versatility. I really wanted the battery but in the end couldn't justify it.

 

Tripac evolution: End of August in Yuma AZ it was 114 degrees it kept it comfortable in the truck all day..... now it wasn’t very very cold but it was cool enough not to have to start the truck.

 

I have Tri Pac and Tri Pac Evo. Either one you can hang meat in the sleeper mid day in Phoenix. All day.

Wrench used to say the battery powered units couldn't keep up in the more sizzling places ( Southwest, Socal)

 

I just prefer how the Tripak will keep the battery charged, coolant warm in cold weather, and doesnt need to be charged if say you're doing a 34. Those features are what sold me.

 

Here's another big one on Tripac. Standby mode. Not sure if the battery one does it but if it does obviously it will start the truck engine to charge batteries. Tripac just starts it's own engine. I feel comfortable leaving my Tripac on standby anywhere I leave the truck, like my off work parking spot for days sometimes. I wouldn't be at all comfortable with the truck engine starting up on it's own without me around.

 

Love my tripack evolution. Though I wish the ac was a bit colder. I’ve got a condo and prefer to use the windshield curtain and keep the sleeper curtains open due to also having a large dog in the truck and wanting more room. Sometimes the ac won’t quite keep up in the south, especially if the cab is facing the sun and I will have to occasionally run the truck for 10 or 15 minutes to stay comfortable. Had the same issue in my mid roof but it’s definitely more noticeable in the ultra loft.

Our trucks also have to polar package, heated fuel tanks and such and the tripack will come on to warm the coolant. -30. No worries the truck will always fire right up.

 

I purchased some kind of tower with my tripac evolution when it was installed at thermo king about 2 months ago...It allows the air to flow not only at the bottom of the bunk but about midways from the bunk up to the roof....keeps the whole truck cool

 

I ducted my Tripac in to the factory bunk vents. It took a razor blade and about 10 minutes. It blows cold air everywhere now.
