Ok. My wife bought it for me.
But honestly, I really don't need one.
I like sleeping in the cold. And if it gets much below 30, I need to idle anyway just to keep my fuel from jelling

Not a big fan of electric heaters in trucks. In my small mind it just doesn't seem safe. Might be a left over from the house fire we had from one when I was a kid.

Presuming you have enough batteries reserve. A 1kw setting in a truck sould keep the truck at 63F when it is -20F outside. All small electric heaters will have a tip over shutoff on them. As long as there isnt a radiant fillament (turns literally red hot) it should not be able to create a fire in the cab.

A 400 would probably drive it. The thing is heating elements have a constant draw.

So basically you're going to need your engine turning the alternator to keep it running for more than 5 or 10 minutes.

I would like to throw my two cents worth in regarding small electric heaters. If the control knobs are located on the top of heater above the heat source , they might be subject to melting. Found this out from experience

nope......it was a CRST truck that came with OptiIdle......that doesn't work.
Honestly, no really big deal. Like I said before, I like to sleep cold. Only bummer part is first thing in the morning for about 5 minuts.
