I can. One inspection, with several violations, add up all those severity points, and multiply by time rating points....yeah, they can add up pretty fast. That's one of the reasons why its so important to keep your ducks in a row. Like x1heavy said, those days are long gone.
Psp score problem

Hired a lot of drivers over the years and know many others, large and small carriers. I can't think of one of them that would deny for one incident.

In Feb 2011 I decided to leave trucking after 18 years clean experience. In less than a year, when I decided to return to trucking, I found carriers who would not consider me because I didn't have X number of months in the last X number of months experience. It is great that you can and will be more a accommodating in your hiring practices. But many carriers are not accommodating at all. So yeah, I can see having too many psp points causing issues, even if it is only one inspection.

Only time I've seen a carrier use that excuse is when there is something about the driver that they can't say.

Baloney. Keep defending theses carriers. There is a reason this site exists and is so popular. And it isn't to sing these carriers praises. These carriers do a lot of dumb stuff. And that have a lot of dumb policies. I can tell you, when I was job hunting, and getting turned down, there was nothing wrong with me or my application, other than that time off the road. Zero accidents, zero psp score, nothing on my mvr, no bad comments on dac, excellent work history, etc. But you keep thinking all these companies are golden if it makes you sleep better. Most are full of hooey, and everyone knows it but you. Have a giood day.

May not be able to prove it but any trucker knows that sometimes you gotta roll down the road with that one trio light out on the trailer, otherwise you'd not make a dime out on the road. Shame on anyone driving with bad brakes or a flaming flat tire down the road but points can add up really quick for torn reflective tape, a blinker that went out while driving, a headlight, or your fire extinguisher latch popped off while hitting nasty bumps. Kind of sad people can't get a job because of lights, tape, fuses, or color rubbed off on air hoses. Meanwhile the lazy truckstop cowboys maintain clean records from inactivity, avoid DOT by using a CB radio, or simply bypassing every scale house and these moronic companies mark that as guaranteed safety. Yet when it comes to the job getting done, it isn't the pristine record holders doing it, it's the outlaws the Jerry Reed's of the industry. Say what you want, you've that right, but the reality of trucking is #### breaks and it tends to do so after a pretrip. Unfortunately for so many phenomenal drivers out there it just so happens to be right near a chest thumping DOT officer. But whatever makes you feel all manly little guy, I'll leave you to your delusions. Plan on seeing a lot more of me, I'm in no mood to roll over like the masses on this issue. And fortunately for me, I was other things before trying my hand at trucking.

Only 75% of the things going wrong are in your control seeing on how you're driving more than you're not. This industry will soon be flooded with rookies and since they can't make money by playing by all the rules the turnover rate will continue to be high as more rookies are thrown out onto our roadways. Remember though, your family members are on the same roads as half of these people that can't read signs in English let alone actually drive the rig. So when granny gets smashed by a rig, remember that person has a fantastic psp opposed to the old dogs that might have had issues with the ELD's and got put oos and then out of a job. FMCSA is all about safety though, gotta get those gold standard psps.

This post is kind of old, I do hope you found other means of employment that proved much less stressful and much more rewarding than trucking. I'm hoping you realized this industry is a dead end and in reality the only money makers not nitpicked to death are those in trucking but not driving. Hope to hear how you've been doing and if you give me a little while, I have plans to get disgruntled drivers out of this vicious cycle and away from the clutches of the federal gov't. Most people don't realize how dangerous this job is, stressful, or detrimental to your freedom it really is. Many truckers are ending up in prison for not having dashcams and having accidents with idiot four wheelers that cause the accidents but are immediately backed by lawyers who hate truckers. You are hated, unappreciated, and people literally are employed for the sole purpose to ruin your life. While you may have a clean slate now, how long will that last in an industry that employs people to get you? Realllly think about that please.

Sounds like you are really bitter about getting fired because you kept driving junk down the road.
ZVar Thanks this. -
