Flatbed securement equipment load rate

Tarp pay should be factored into the overall rate . Who cares if its itemized like detention or extra stops. U negotiate it into the overall rate based on the time and effort its going to take you. If they dont want to do it at the price u negotiate for then dont take the load. Very simple. Taking pictures of loads and freight before u leave the shipper . Taking pictures of tarps and securement . And showing any damage beforehand will keep u from getting freight claims. Dont haul for cheap ##### and you run into less problems. Once again very simple.

 

Thanks. I've been doing just that for the past 11 years. Right now I'm picking up pipe here in Virginia going 170 paying $800, same tomorrow for $700 on 120 and so on for the rest of the week.

Company drivers can have all of those tarp loads all they want

 

No doubt. I have a brand new never used set of heavy 4 footers collecting dust in my basement. I do carry a 18x16 steel tarp for the very rare occasional partial I move for a particular customer but that's it. For me, it's not about the money. It's about what you mentioned with the damage claim. It's just not worth the risk for me. Not to mention all brokers falling over each other trying to garner business from new customers so they claim they get anything tarp regardless of whether it needs weather protection or not. I'll pass.
