Hello, can somebody tell me please,I have 2010 Cummins isx 15.The VG gear is not moving wide enough, but when I removed exhoust side from turbo, got separated from vanes, the VG gear moves wider.I did not see damaged or broken vanes, but the VG gear has a free play( up and down).I think, because of this I have low boost code, cloged DPF.My question is: can VG gear housing be replaced or I need a new turbo? Thanks

You sure it's that and not the actuator?

I am not sure.I see the actuator been replaced before I bought this truck(in 2018).Actuator was made in 2017.I checked the actuator gear it looks ok to me(I checked the actuator by the Rawze video).

Can't say for certain, but I think that VG section is riveted in. That may mean you need a new turbo.

I am wondering, can I drive with this problem for some time, make some money, than buy a new turbo, probably rebuilded one.I afraid to loose 5-6k on new turbo if something similar would happen again soon.

I would be very careful doing that if the turbo has a problem in it. If anything on the "cold side" of the turbo comes apart it could cost you an engine.

Another question if I may ask. After I bought a truck with cummins isx(cm2250),at my 1 st day driving to shiper I got check engine light on.I brought my truck to service and they replaced dpf filter...After 1 week I got check engine light again:I got low boost pressure code on,dpf codes on.Later I found crankcase filter dirty and turbo leaking oil to intercooler,I replaced the filter.I also found the VG gear on my turbo is not moving wide enough from left to right, right to left.I am wondering which of those 2 problems might be for the codes I have???Both of them or none of them?
