So as a rookie driver should I even ponder driving in the snow this year? I got a message saying to pick up some chains and I’m dumb enough to try almost anything once, but I’d rather not get myself into quite a pickle haha the older gentleman I talked to back in Amarillo told me I shouldn’t even think about it, then went on to tell me how his company sent him up this mountain without chains saying how there’s no snow up there, coming down there was nothing but ice, truck rolled over barely hanging onto a guard rail and he couldn’t stop to help since he was sliding the whole way down. I read @TripleSix’s post awhile back, mentioned not trying 2 lanes the first go round, stick to the, “big road”

You gotta learn some time, no better time than now. Just never drive faster than your comfortable with.

It's more fun to struggle your way out with bothering them.. Then once free, passive aggressively pull the air horn inches from their bunk on the way out..

I won't do this at 4-5am. Not cool for the correctly parked to be disturbed.. But by 8 or 9am, if I'm still blocked in, wakey wakey MF'ers.. -
There telling you to get tire chains because some states have mandatory chain requirements in some areas. You might run all winter and never need them, you might hit one area that requires chains even though they're not really needed.

Yes its good experience to get . If you get the opportunity . Next time ur at a big warehouse or big parking lot with nobody around, thats packed with snow and ice , drive around and try to break traction to see what it feels like . Mash on the breaks to get a feel for what it feels to lock up ur trailer and put it in a slide. These feelings will be the same in a parking lot at 5-10 mph as it will at highway speeds .. Obviously dont damage your equipment or the property but it will give u a good idea of what it feels like to break traction and the "oh ####" feeling that comes with it .

I shut down before 4 pm most the time so that I always have ample choices for parking, might be a little bit extreme but I like driving in the early am to start the day off; nobody around and just cruising along, watching the sun come up lol I’d piss my pants if you did that to me!Isafarmboy, cke, MACK E-6 and 5 others Thank this.

I think that's a good interval for the terrain and loads you've been running. I change mine between 20k and 25k. But our freight is usually light, with a lot more flat land.cke, jamespmack, 650cat425 and 3 others Thank this.
