That makes no sense at all. Factory windows are clear, unless they came with factory tint.

If it proves I’m hiding something then why don’t I ever get pulled in or pulled over? I’ve been inspected once in three years. He didn’t mention my windows. I’ve been pulled over once for them as I stated above. That trooper was cool and told me how to get around the law as I stated. He didn’t accuse me of anything, just told me that the tint law had recently been changed.

Kentucky, where this happened, is one state over from my home. I roll through it all the time and I’ve never been bothered again.

It makes perfect sense if you ever noticed and actually inspected.

Roll the window down and look through and above. You'll see it's not clear. There's a slight tint.

Buy a light meter. It's required to do safety inspections.

In my previous life I was emissions and safety certified.

Tint % is amount of light through, so the actual glass from the factory is about 90% of light through, just a UV tint more then anything

I had a note from ophthalmologist about my light sensitivity, also a note from dermatologist stating I have had 3 spots of skin cancer on my right side of face and needed tint and UV protection. Guess what Iowa didn’t give 2 ####s. Had to be taken off before I could leave scale house. Rolled windows down it was a somewhat chilly day. Officer stopped me on scale came out with light meter and knew something was up.

I’ve wondered if you would get in trouble for a strip on top of the windshield. The truck I used to drive had a visor and it really helped keep the sun out of my eyes. Unfortunately a visor looks kinda dumb on a Cascadia.

That's great, but it's semantics. I'm not telling you what clear glass actually is (factory UN tinted vs. tinted), what I'm telling you is that the stuff that comes on all vehicles, if not obviously tinted, is clear to most people.

I put 20% on top of whatever you define as clear or not on all of my vehicles and have never been bothered in any state, personal or commercial. I put 5% limo on the windshield a few inches down.

@jason6541, sorry my friend. That sucks. Try rolling down your windows next time.

If your windshield has an ASI line on it you can tint down to that line and be legal just like a car.

These threads crack me up. I’ve always had 35% tint on all my trucks. Always rolled the window down when going through scale or checkpoint. It’s just a respect thing so if they want to talk to you. Never been pulled out and beaten by a cop or arrested for hiding something yet.
My everyday driver nowadays does not have A/C so my windows are down in the summer all the time anyway. The tint keeps the sun from eating away the interior when it is parked.

Don't get me wrong...I love tint. So many benefits! The windows on the front doors have 15 percent, everything back has limo and the windshield has 50 percent because of all the fools with high beams and HIDs. I do this to all my vehicles as soon as I buy them. I'd love to get my truck done too but I just think it's a bad idea. I hate getting roasted in the summer and I despise the "Driver's Tan" but it's bad news to reduce your vision while operating such a large and heavy piece of machinery. With so many dangerous variables on the road; why add another?

Yeah some officers see that as your hiding something. Especially when weather is cool
