with these stupid ### broker requirements. YOU are not necessary in this industry. TRUCKS and DRIVERS are the commodity, not brokers.

Now that that has been said, this to al of my fellow owners and OO's.
Back charges from brokers should be service charges. In the same way that we charge detention, layover, tonu , drayage and other charges, it is time to add additional "SERVICE" charges to your accessorial chart.

Paperwork return time - $75 (If they want ppw in 24hrs, they can pay for it. It takes you away from your normal tasks). Most want to FINE for it, well they can pay for it. I'm still fighting one over $100 when they got the PPW 4 days after delivery.

MUST speak with your driver: NO. ##(5 No. My drivers do not work for YOU. My drivers can not obligate my company in any manner in which you can hold ME accountable. There is a BROKER that is handling an account out of Columbus, IN from which we did a lot before they won the bid. The broker account manager demanded a list of all of my drivers phone numbers swearing that he would never call them. (WTF???). I refused and we have not done any loads out of that facility in a year. This is really good paying specialized freight. You want to know why I hate brokers??? Also, all of the carriers that are caving in to this requirement, WOW. That's all that I will say. You say that you can't trust drivers??? Pay a better rate on EVERY load and you will get quality carriers. This will eliminate your paranoia and help you to sleep at night. We deal with a broker that I absolute love, he pays a GREAT rate, and he does not have these problems because he can afford to be picky. Also, stop double and triple brokering loads.

45 - 60 day payment terms: Anything over 30 days beyond billing will be considered late and charged an additional $10 per day. - I have bills to pay just like, no, more importantly than those of brokers.

Blind Shipment: This is an additional service that is not a problem of everyday trucking. $100 for a blind shipper requirement, then IF our driver fails, keep the $100.

    Etc. etc. etc,,,

We are a service provider. Brokers need to understand that. You want us to do something that is not our normal, then you need to pay for it.

Mic drop, stepping off of my soap box.

I could not disagree. Looks good. The question remains, do they - brokers need you more than you need them to accept that...manifesto?

The fact is that quite more I see of these stupid threats from brokers to fine you on this or that. Especially mega - size brokers. It gets on my nerve too just by seeing it. Especially, Coyote and XPO are creative on these fines. They pay on time though.

There are a lot of brokers out there to choose from..
    You have two choices.
    1) Develop a relationship with ones that meet your requirements in a broker.
    2) Get your own customers.

ttnae, how many trucks are you running? Pretty low stress just running one. Pays the bills. I'm not chasing my tail and have no problem dealing with and negotiating on the specific requirements of one broker/one shipment at a time. Try it.

One other thing. The brokers want to speak to the driver and not you? That's because middle men just muddle things up, and they know this. In this instance you are just what you are saying they are, which is in the way. I prefer to take the broker out of the equation when I can and speak directly to the shipper/receiver. Doesn't always works but sure goes smoother when it does.

Lately I been getting rate cons that say “tracking required or load will not be paid, pick up at 8am or load will not be paid” I’m told these are generic rate cons. I then tell them to send me a revised 1 or I don’t want the load. Revised rate con within 5 mins. The list of brokers I will even haul for anymore is getting slim, cold calling isn’t working. Not sure what I plan to Do.

I have seen brokers just calling to see if the load been picked up or delivered within agreed time , but tql for example call every 2 hours even on the weekend to check your location ( i blocked them the second time they called me on my first load and they are blocked since ) ...love them when they call on the weekend and cant reach anyone then send 5 emails with update ...lol...
Some of the brokers real pita ...i hate the ones that require to download the tracking app so they can see if you on the route , i usually do before accepting load and delete if right after confirmation and explain later that there is a glitch in their app :)))

If you dont like brokers then dont work for them ..... They are just as necessary in the supply chain as us truck drivers are....
