Got it. You don't give them the tip; you give them the whole thing.

When's the last time any of us were given a tip for hauling anything? Let alone showing up late, running over a hedge, knocking a light pole over and asking for a tip?
If we cared as little about our job as a lumper we'd be un insurable.

Tips are reserved for underpaid people that provide us with a service.

But lumpers are not providing us a service; they are hiring out for a service from the consignee that is too cheap to hire their own staff to unload their own freight.

Any tips the lumpers should expect should only be coming from the consignee.

If they ask, I always give them a tip. “ Don’t Park your car in downtown Detroit after dark”. That’s my tip.

Hmmm, never even thought about tipping lumpers. I'm a generous tipper, always leave tip at hotel for cleaning lady, leave tip in shower for shower attendant, etc.

    But, lumpers, uh, no.

Just had a unloader (not a lumper) "casually" mention that other drivers tipped him.

I mean, he was quick, but not cash out of my pocket quick.

Also, don't be afraid to tip the poor schmuck that cleans the shower. That's underpaid work!

Lumper Humper and Moosetek13 Thank this.

I leave $5.00 per night at a motel, $2.00 in the shower at the truck stop. I won't tip less than 15% in a restaurant, even for sub par service, but I will tip a minimum of 25% for great service. I learned decades ago how to get great service from the ####tail waitresses in a casino. Tip her 20 bucks on the first drink. She will find you wherever you are in that place. A couple bucks per drink thereafter.

As I stated I never tipped a lumper. As to people such as servers I always did something else. I would have $10s and $5s copied. On the back side was a note this might have been real had my service been better. The thing is I also always took in the atmosphere before getting angry at bad service. If a server is humping it because chintzy management was too cheap to have enough servers working OR management on duty was too lazy to help, I got angry at management, not the server. Years ago before the flying fish hook sold out to Pilot, I lit into an asst manager at the Carnesville Ga location. One server on duty and all this lazy bum wanted to do was inspect the salad bar! All it took was asking me how was my meal!
