I make it work...you have to understand trucking and Covid...finding a good barber and esthetician that a loaded semi can park in...sacrifices have been made.

Sounds like you might have plenty of free time soon.

Yup. Lol. It happens. I actually was given another shot by my company then someone backed into me. The hit and run may put me over the edge. I’ve been shut down all week.

I pity the fool who leads one of these astray.
And I will strike down with great vengeance and righteous fury,
For you are truly thine brothers keeper.
And the Lord will strike down upon thee,
And you will know that he is the Lord!
Sorry, just going from memory here. They Call Me Miss Frizzle, TripleSix and Trucking in Tennessee Thank this. -
I'll tell you a thing I've come to believe, 3 husbands and 2 sons later... boys don't necessarily believe in themselves. that's not the reason they persist 'until they get it'. they persist because they are boys. there really isn't more to it. like the guys that can't take a hint. like the guys that insist on talking themselves up far beyond what they really are/have/can do. it's just a boy thing.dwells40, Chinatown and They Call Me Miss Frizzle Thank this. -

Women are also attracted to the “bad boy” types. I’ve noticed this my entire life. They ignore the Eagle Scout and swoon over the outlaw biker, for example.
These are just generalizations. My wife is an exception. True story. When I went through flight training in Pensacola in 1987, I became good friends with a couple of local guys I met at church. We palled around for a year, then I left for NAS Whidbey Island, WA, and eventually lost touch.
When I came back to Pensacola to settle down in 1992, after deciding I had enough of “The Corps,” my neighbor insisted that I meet a gal who worked for her. We met on neutral territory, which was my neighbor’s church. Very cute girl!
With the introduction out of the way, I called her to see if she’d like to go out on a date. I met her and her sister at a hole-in-the-wall bar for drinks. At the end of the night, she went home and told her mom that she had just met the man she was going to marry.
Anyway, here’s my point. During our dating time, I found out that she had dated seriously one of the two pals I mentioned earlier, even though they lived an hour apart and met purely by chance.
Rather than being mad and jealous, I was pleasantly surprised, because she chose to date someone I also liked and respected. It proved to me that her head was screwed on right. She was attracted to cute men of good moral character.
Later, after being married and having lived with me for a while, she tells me how much like her father I am (he died before we met). So she also married her father in a way. Luckily for me, he was a good man, and he and my wife had a good relationship.EuropeanTrucker, dwells40 and Chinatown Thank this. -
Not really sure how that relates to the observation of male persistence in the face of unreasonableness. Many women have experienced watching a guy soldier on in relationships, hobbies, employment, in complete disregard for all the signs that say he's not best suited for his undertaking.
Some of what I've seen is supported by science. If you get a hold of the book Brain Sex, I don't remember the author but one example of children was a toddler boy and a toddler girl, if each bangs a knee on the coffee table learning to walk, it's very likely that the girl will cry and want to be picked up. The boy will hit the table with his fist lol.
I hope you are not interpreting this as a value judgement on gender typical behaviors- that was not my point. Just noting that in the spectrum of behaviors there are some gender correlations, and if a woman judges her behavior against typical male behaviors in a male oriented job she might feel out of step. But that mismatch could just be about the BEHAVIORS, not the actual SKILL SET...Roguefox, dwells40, Chinatown and 1 other person Thank this. -
