I make it work...you have to understand trucking and Covid...finding a good barber and esthetician that a loaded semi can park in...sacrifices have been made.

Yup. Lol. It happens. I actually was given another shot by my company then someone backed into me. The hit and run may put me over the edge. I’ve been shut down all week.

The inequities of man are beset on all sides my brethren.
I pity the fool who leads one of these astray.
And I will strike down with great vengeance and righteous fury,
For you are truly thine brothers keeper.
And the Lord will strike down upon thee,
And you will know that he is the Lord!

Sorry, just going from memory here.

sorry to hear that you are sitting. that's an unnerving place to be :-( I hope it all works out to put you in a good place ultimately.
I'll tell you a thing I've come to believe, 3 husbands and 2 sons later... boys don't necessarily believe in themselves. that's not the reason they persist 'until they get it'. they persist because they are boys. there really isn't more to it. like the guys that can't take a hint. like the guys that insist on talking themselves up far beyond what they really are/have/can do. it's just a boy thing.

Some parts of me relish the idea that I could nail this all based on work ethic, grit, determination, and valuing safety. However someone asked me if I solidly know that I could stop a truck if someone cut me off and a bridge was icy. This regularly happens on my route where people fail to yield and all four lanes come to a rapid halt. I think my problem is that I’m more comfortable driving around drivers who have experience. I’m more comfortable driving around drivers trained by drivers with experience. I talked to a trainer with experience who was explaining to me that some of the things that were explained to me were dead wrong and dangerous. Counting on perspicacity and perspiration would be awesome if it is a guarantee. I’m a female driver who is arguably (I argue otherwise) pretty with a decent personality. I don’t want anyone to do anything for me unless I physically cannot and if I get help I try to help someone else more. I truly shy away from scenarios that remind me of token beauty pageant responses. I can’t wave and smile and say “world peace” to that icy highway. Trucking is clearly not a beauty contest. I’ll try and budget more time just to practice backing. However I would state that there is no substitute for solid training and it’s not wrong to want someone to sign off on your ability to do the job safely before you get anywhere near a life or death situation or hitting someone else’s property. So I will do my best to knock out practicing and GOALing but I want to do so in a way that doesn’t discourage myself or anyone else from getting additional coaching if they need it. When I started driving I believed that I would never have to bobtail and bobtailed trucks terrified me. They reminded me of ants with their heads cut off that keep biting you. I would love for anyone who looked at me as an expert at that time to get some training from someone who knows better.

Married three times? Maybe you’re just attracted—subconsciously—to the type of man-boy that you just described. Women have evolved to want to marry someone just like their fathers, even if that relationship was dysfunctional and abusive. They are comfortable with the familiarity of the relationship even if its a bad one.

Women are also attracted to the “bad boy” types. I’ve noticed this my entire life. They ignore the Eagle Scout and swoon over the outlaw biker, for example.

These are just generalizations. My wife is an exception. True story. When I went through flight training in Pensacola in 1987, I became good friends with a couple of local guys I met at church. We palled around for a year, then I left for NAS Whidbey Island, WA, and eventually lost touch.

When I came back to Pensacola to settle down in 1992, after deciding I had enough of “The Corps,” my neighbor insisted that I meet a gal who worked for her. We met on neutral territory, which was my neighbor’s church. Very cute girl!

With the introduction out of the way, I called her to see if she’d like to go out on a date. I met her and her sister at a hole-in-the-wall bar for drinks. At the end of the night, she went home and told her mom that she had just met the man she was going to marry.

Anyway, here’s my point. During our dating time, I found out that she had dated seriously one of the two pals I mentioned earlier, even though they lived an hour apart and met purely by chance.

Rather than being mad and jealous, I was pleasantly surprised, because she chose to date someone I also liked and respected. It proved to me that her head was screwed on right. She was attracted to cute men of good moral character.

Later, after being married and having lived with me for a while, she tells me how much like her father I am (he died before we met). So she also married her father in a way. Luckily for me, he was a good man, and he and my wife had a good relationship.

I did marry my father, who is a sociopath. Twice actually. The first was right out of high school, lasted 2 years. I realized to a small degree the dysfunction and left. My 2nd husband died.My last husband was also a very bad person but I had kids and stayed for 20 years until they were grown. That was not martyrdom or delusion, I am quite well aware of the lengths to which a person with the sociopathic world view will go to get what they want or punish those who anger them, and I made my choices accordingly. I would do it again if I had to.

Not really sure how that relates to the observation of male persistence in the face of unreasonableness. Many women have experienced watching a guy soldier on in relationships, hobbies, employment, in complete disregard for all the signs that say he's not best suited for his undertaking.
Some of what I've seen is supported by science. If you get a hold of the book Brain Sex, I don't remember the author but one example of children was a toddler boy and a toddler girl, if each bangs a knee on the coffee table learning to walk, it's very likely that the girl will cry and want to be picked up. The boy will hit the table with his fist lol.
I hope you are not interpreting this as a value judgement on gender typical behaviors- that was not my point. Just noting that in the spectrum of behaviors there are some gender correlations, and if a woman judges her behavior against typical male behaviors in a male oriented job she might feel out of step. But that mismatch could just be about the BEHAVIORS, not the actual SKILL SET...

Put some applications in at other places before you're fired, not after.
If you don't want to submit an app., then at least make some phone calls to get ideas as to what's available.
You don't have to take the job offers, but they will be there if needed.
