The sign on bonus is between 2000 and 5000 depending on your experience before you come on. To be honest I'm not sure how its paid out but there are exact details on the oakley transport website.

Did you guys miss me? Well have no fear, SouthTXhauler is here!!!
Well guys, its been about 5 weeks since I've been on this new dedicated customer account. I'll start off by saying I love it and heres why.
At first I was skeptical because I wasn't sure if I'd get paid for every day I was away from home. I thought they'd work me hard for 5 days and leave me SOL for 2 which would give me a lower check each week but its been the complete opposite. They don't work me hard at all and as long as I'm available for dispatch, I get paid. Most weeks I'm able to get a reset and if I don't, I always have enough hours to run on recaps.
My dispatcher has been great. Great communication. Great preplans. Great attitude. Teaches me things I don't know or am not familiar with. Can't say enough about the guy. I'll call him Big D. Big D is the sheet.
As far as where I have been going. I've been staying around OH, NC, TX, AR... so far no North East. I did 1 Chicago load and was scared for my life before going in. But I planned it to go in and out, out of rush hour times. Wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be.
One thing I can I say I really like about this job is the shippers and receivers are set up with truckers in mind. When I was doing flatbed, you never knew where you were going to go. A lot of it was supplies for new construction, weather it be a building downtown or a house in the middle of no where. Here its all food grade do you go to factories that have truckers in mind when they are loadng or unloading. Not to mention no straping, no worrying about the load shifting. And no worrying about how your going to distribute the lisd weight.
You check your seals a few times a day, which is basically visual verification the zip tie to close all the parts that could be opened are not broken or tampered with. Super Fing easy. Matter of fact, most days I feel guilty im not working hard enough and find myself being grateful and not trying to fall into the lazy mentality I can imagine some drivers get into.
Main differences in getting paid by the mile vs this dedicated customer account. When I was getting paid by the miles I did a lot more miles and fewer loading and unloading basically longer trips. And I found I was dead heading more miles.
Here on this dedicated account I find myself doing fewer mikes but loading and unloading more.
I also noticed most places and so far all places will load you and less than half require you to pump off the load.
Pumping off the load has been a whole lot easier than I thought it would be too. After a few times you feel comfortable. Theres not much to it but you can easly have a spill if you do something wrong. Especially while disconnecting the hoses after a pump off. But if you take your time and think about it, its pretty hard to screw up.
I'm in West Memphis AR now. Probably going to load tomorrow morning in Memphis TN tomorrow morning and take it to SA TX for a Thursday morning offload. then heading home for 6 days. Im turning big 32 Sunday. Ive got fishing, BBQ, putang and fireworks planned. Ill keep you guys posted.Last edited by a moderator: Oct 31, 2020

Sounds good. Did the $1500 salary pan out as you were thinking?. Was that gross or net?. I'm seriously thinking about moving away from food grade, probably try hazmat chemicals, but good to know that Oakley dedicated is a decent gig.

Actually a little more than I thought. After taxes and with pet diem added im keeping close to 1400. With the amount of work and lack of stress, I'm very happy with that.
tscottme, Speed_Drums and Redtwin Thank this. -

a new trailer i get 35 and anytime I pump to load I get 25. Said id be out for 3-5 weeks at a time with 1 day off for every week I'm out.
an hour after 2 hours hours. Didnt get much more info out of them as far as pay goes. They dont pump so no load/unload pay. They said it be out 3 weeks and home 3/4 full days. They said there drivers get between 2800 to 3200 miles.
One thing though is my medical card expired on 6/25/2020 and Bynum wants me to pay to get another before i go to orientation out of my own pocket. Then they want me to get another at orientation that they'll pay for. At first Bynum said it was bc my CDL could be reduced but i looked up online that in texas they arnt reducing CDL for expired medical card because of covid. I called her back to clearify that and she said she knew but wanted me to still get it. I thought that was BS.
Oakley has already set me up to get my DOT medical and drug test in the next city over and they are paying for it. They said to keep my gas receipt and they will reimburse me for gas bc it's 45min away. So that's way better than what Bynum will do.
I still need to talk to Indian River transport, Sherman Brothers and TriState. All seem interest and have scheduled phone interviews after running my information. I will keep updating.[/QUOTE]
