Why do drivers think everybody needs to be certified? That's like saying you can breathe. Means nothing. Plus it's their property. They can do what they want. They could care less about your ability to do your job.

Well, because the guy with the temp gun controls your access to the load. If he has a chip on his shoulder and you look at him wrong, no access to the load. On what basis, you might ask? Who cares, he controls entry. Wouldn't you rather your ability to pick up a load be evaluated by a trained medic over a lazy, disgruntled dock worker?

Okay, their property, their rules. So you get denied a load because of some untrained idiot's screw up. Will you get TONU for that missed load? Probably not, which is why you should care about who is controlling the temp gun. It boils down to time=money. I don't want any further delays at the shipper. That's unpaid time and the sooner I'm rolling, the better.

You state that like it's different than forever. The security, receiving, etc. has always been able to kick you out because they don't like your haircut.

Untrained? It's not hard to run a temp
Don't need much training to run a temperature gun. Sounds like your attitude is your biggest problem. They can tell you to leave for any reason they want to.

Most of the guards don't care anyway. They are, as usual, doing the bare minimum of their job. I think that's the definition of security guard. I've got a regular place that points the temp gun at my left arm every time I go in and says 'good'. I don't even think he looks at the number. The guns are not designed for your arm, by the way.

Here's my favorite, though, and I see it all the time. They hand you a form or ask you 'have you traveled domestically or internationally in the last 30 days. You are supposed to look at them, having just driven a truck 1000 miles with their product and say 'no, I have not traveled domestically in the last 30 days'. WTF????

Yea. GM asks just international travel and one must answer no to be allowed in the plant. The aprox. 30% of the trucks we get from Canada to build the Made in America trucks....

The point isn't attitude or operation. It's analyzing the results. The above posts show how worthless the process is with people waving around the gun at any appendage.

I can plug a computer into your trucks' port, but do you really want me analyzing the results?

I can pull on a throttle and flip switches with the best of them, but do you want me landing your plane?

I can type like a demon, but do you want me programming your company's computer?

My point is that the places performing this "feel good" sham should either take it seriously by providing trained medical personnel to make informed decisions that might actually, to some degree, help us get rid of this virus. Or, quit the pretense that's wasting everyone's time. No one is answering honestly, and the guy doing the screening could care less. There's no attitude in wanting a process to mean something. And as a business owner, my time is precious. Parking fills up quickly, so the sooner I'm on the road, the better.
