    On mine (04 379,cat C15) the dash gauges read lower than actual temp on the ecm when the computers hooked up.Water temp on dash says 190/200 and actual temp is 210/215 and oil reads 150 but is actually the same temp as water.

    Water pump has nothing to do with overcooling. Is the engine fan operating normal....not stuck on?

    If the upper rad hose gets warm at the radiator before 180*F you have coolant circulating through the Rad too early. I would revisit thermostat condition and installation. I have seen housings corrode through causing coolant to bypass the thermostats. Did you use CAT stats?

    Hi Goody. Yes I did use cat stats. I have 988k with the original housings. I’ve had this problem for about 300k at least. My housings aren’t leaking but they dont look new inside either. I cleaned them up best I could. My engine fan works properly

    The leak is internal. The coolant flows around the stats..........thus over cooling.

    Also, after doing a local load my water registered at 145 as did the IR reading which makes me think you’re right about the housings

    Thanks to all for the insight. I changed my thermostat housings and everything is working fine now. The seals were not staying in the groove. As the pressure built it pushed the seal out of its groove and causing the water to pass through as Goody said. New housings, new seals, and good to go. Thanks again everyone. Best place to be for advice and help. You guys are the best. Keep the shiny side up
