We had a family that moved to Saskatchewan from Quebec who had a 45 imperial gallon drum of reduced sugar sap shipped out and we had a "sugaring off" party one weekend and got 5 gallons of maple syrup by the end of the weekend. I got 2 quarts and that was the last maple syrup I brought into my house, it took 3 years to use it up.

That worked both ways though. The most notable example I can think of is with the bolt action rifles of the time. That which was used on the M1903 was based on the Mauser.

As for our involvement it had to be. Economic sanctions provoked the Pearl Harbor strike, but that could not go unanswered, especially with an enemy with the tenacity of the Imperial Japanese.

And in the European theater, you help your allies. It’s just the way it has to be.

Even if your allies are ####ing idiots? :D

Yes it does go both ways, but I was merely saying when you combine all the bits and pieces to create the perfect storm you’re left with a much better answer than, “Germany bad, Hitler evil, tha end”

The Air Wiper Motor on a 1984 Mack has an adjustment screw that will speed them up so fast that it will sling the wipblades off ...

Lol, air wipers.. Whom ever the genius was that spec them in '92 when my Shaker was built should be round housed right in the head.! tenor-2.gif
Mine only work on high, which is fairly slow.. Anywhere else on the dial & they stop. Then you've got the window rolled down with arm out the window reaching for the wiper to try & jump start them goin again.. If the wiper parked in a bad spot where you can't reach it, & the return switch won't slam them back down it's off to the shoulder for a second.. o_O

But air wipers & no cruise are the worst of my problems.. No big deal in comparison..

This reminds me of how many job ads that say "competitive wages", usually in bold or highlighted. What that tells me, is they are going to pay as little as possible, usually with an expectation of top tier performance.

I’ve never read an ad that told the truth, besides maybe Extendz from what James said :D I probably couldn’t handle the laughter if someone said they had an erection for more than 5 hours after taking one, probably shouldn’t go grocery shopping

Japan attacked us because we were financing the British and some Europeans. They figured if we had to enter the war in the Pacific with a severely weakened navy, we would no longer be able to support Brittain.

Putting the Brits and most of Europe in debt to us was a smart move economically, regardless of what led up to the start of the war. We certainly didn't want Germany to take over Europe, and once the war ended, having them owe us would fuel our economy for decades.

Our mistake, was thinking nobody would have the balls to attack us directly. We were a powerhouse militarily, but got caught with our guard down, thinking everyone else in the world had a similar sense of honor as us, or at least would see how dumb taking us on directly would be.
