I have a 3406b with roughly 1,000,000 miles on it
There is a massive leak from the injection pump as well as the oil pan it looks like
does anyone have experience with these issues?
How much would it roughly cost to repair these issues?

You need the Cat DR.

You're most likely going to have to clean all that gunk off first. Way easier to see what's leaking when its cleaned up.

Dave_in_AZ, MACK E-6 and spsauerland Thank this. -
looks like its been leaking for that 1,000,000 miles pump needs sealed up

what kinda cost am I looking at to seal it up?
Im trying to figure out if its more cost effective to drop in a newer motor in instead of trying to fix this one with the miles it has on itLast edited: Oct 30, 2020

Five years ago I was getting parts for one of My Cummins PT pumps and the pump shop had a rebuilt mechanical 3406 pump painted and ready to install sitting on the shelf. It had a $2500 price tag on it. They said that was the price for a non core buyer. Much cheaper. Possibly half that if you swap rebuildable one for it or they rebuild yours and you get it back.

No need to spend 2500 on a reman pump. For about 250 bucks you can reseal that whole govnor section on the truck. Put a 8M-9141 govnor spring in it, add an extra washer to spring pack. New weights, pins and races.
On the bottom rail of the block just above the oil pan there are several plastic plugs with o rings that seal them. They often leak and the pan gets the blame.Dale thompson, pushbroom, Dave_in_AZ and 3 others Thank this. -
