Guaranteed Transport Service GTS

Hey all,
I've been working at GTS out of Winter Haven, Florida for 9 months.
It's a tanker job. I had worked tanker once before with Prime. GTS doesn't have pumps or hoses, though, which is one of the reasons that i picked them. A pretty hands-off experience.

I get paid .48/mile, plus .02 safety bonus, and I've always gotten the safety bonus. I think you have to get a speeding ticket or accident to not get the bonus.

I almost always make a grand a week, but usually a little over.

Layover and breakdown pay is 100 a day.

Detention kind of sucks though. 10 an hour after 4 hours, up to 100 a day.

The only irritating thing about GTS is that dispatch, even though they are all sitting in the same room, don't communicate well with each other. Sometime you have to make multiple calls to get things done. Dispatchers are available 24/7.

Maintenance is 7-5, m-f, Saturday morning, and all the rest of the time it's through TA road assist.

My truck, along with most, are Peterbilts. Pretty well maintained. No real complaints about my truck.

They accept outside dot medical cards, just as long as they have at least 6 months left on them.

We run all 48, but it's alot of midwest, and some northeast. I'll have 6 weeks where I'm getting easy miles running around the midwest, but then i might be stuck in northest and east coast for a couple weeks.

Historically, they haven't been good about getting in for home time when requested, but this might be getting better. The last time i requested 5 days off in Winter Haven, delivered my load in North Carolina, and then they just deadheaded me back to Florida. I was expecting a long drawn out process getting me to Florida, but i was there within the week. So, we'll see next time how it goes. The standard 1 day off per week worked, btw.

One thing i like going from a dairy load to another dairy load. Dairy to dairy means i don't have to get a seperate washout.

They have forward facing cameras, but no driver facing cameras.

Some of the trucks have apus, but mine doesn't. I was told apu trucks were mostly for cpap users. I can idle, but not between 40 and 65 degrees.

Today, im picking up a load in north rose, ny. Load before this, i deadheaded 200 miles from appleton, mn to caledonia, mn for tank wash. Then 300 miles to alexandria, mn to load. Then 1250 miles to oneida, ny.

Some other stuff to add.

Trucks are 65 pedal, 70 cruise.

They put us up in a hotel when in a shop. Nice to get away from the truck for a bit.

I've only been repowered 2 or 3 times in my 9 months. I hate being repowered, but not a very common occurence.

Ive been able to keep on mostly a daytime schedule.

GTS has a private facebook group. So, if you need help with directions, etc, there's someplace to ask.

It's food grade, and you don't need a passport or hazmat. You don't have to have a twic card, but having one is helpful. And i think they help you get one, if you want.

Orientation is 2 days in Winter Haven, Fl. 2 nights in a hotel, and i remember being fed lunch both days. I think i was on my own for dinner. They flew me in for orientation, which was nice. Greyhound sucks!

I'm not micro managed, which i like. Nobody has ever called me on my break, etc.
