How do you prevent roll back on a hill?

Hold the brake and ease off the clutch very gently until just as it starts to grab. Then let off the brakes and roll out

    Roberts450 Thanks this.

A short rollback from time to time is not going to do any harm. The largest way to keep rollback to a minimum is to learn the proper gear to be in and respect the available torque the truck's main engine can provide even at idle! Once you learn to get everything in sync your rollback problem should go away. Just let out on the clutch until you feel the drivetrain engaging then at the same time slowly release the brake, then as you gain speed start changing gears.

Let the clutch out until it starts to grab, let your foot off the brake and then ease the clutch the rest of the way out.

    Brettj3876 and Badmon Thank this.

The way that always worked best for me was to hold the trailer brake lever down and slowly release the clutch and slowly release the trailer brake handle at the same time. Takes some practice.
