I flat refuse to use a darned GPS for routing or any of that crud. But I have been told that a GPS DOES make filing your IFTA quarterlies easier by accurately tracking your mileage by state and formatting that mileage in an easy to read manner.
So for this purpose alone, which GPS is the overall most accurate for tracking mileage for IFTA filing? I don't care about mapping, traffic reports, scales, or any of that other stuff. My paper atlas, Google maps satellite view, decades of experience, and old fashioned mark 1, version 1.a eyeballs are by far better at telling me everything I need to know about traffic and road conditions.
Any suggestions?

The problem with any GPS is that you have to make sure it will stay on all the time and it is a challenge in itself as those power plugs do fall out.
I use Keep Truckin ELD IFTA option but if I were paperless, I'd use the PC miler software again and input the routes I was taking from my memory ... as long as the odometer agrees more or less.
I heard that the auditors use PC miler too.God prefers Diesels and brsims Thank this. -
RAND McNally, just make sure you take care of it. The other week my screen broke and couldn’t get into my ifta and fuel gallons, so now I don’t know what to do for last 2 months of 3rd quarter. I bought a new 1 RAND McNally, really simple to use and tracks all state miles as long as it’s on.

Used Garmin for years. Works well. Easy to use.
Reports can be exported to spreadsheet files.blacklabel and brsims Thank this. -

I have tried a few and the best and cheapest I have found is the SmartTruckRoute app on a Samsung tablet. The IOS version is junk. The Samsung, or any Android tablet for that matter, is better for most trucking apps IMO and cheaper too. Couple hundred for the tablet and $59.99/year for the app. This one doesn't have live traffic though. I run Google Maps on my phone for that.
I love your first line "I flat refuse to use a darned GPS for routing or any of that crud." I suppose you mean speed, simplicity, up-to-the-moment traffic reports and 'crud' like that? Yep, GPS is for losers.
I love passing lines of trucks sitting behind wrecks losing time while I'm detouring around and wondering why they didn't just watch live traffic on their GPS. Oh crud, I'm gonna be to my stop on time.blacklabel and TallJoe Thank this. -
