What also helps to lower your BP is spend some ‘quality time’ with your wife, the nite (or morning) before your appointment. Actually 2 or 3 ‘quality times’ is even better.

From the time I got my first physical after the new CDL law went into effect until roughly 2005-2006 most of the time when I got a physical, I also gave a urine sample to be drug tested at the lab, this has started to change over the next 10 or so years. Right now there is NO FMCSA rule that mandates a physical include a drug test, but I don't know of any rule that says they can't do it if the carrier asks.

If your Carrier sent you for a DOT Physical, and requested a pre employment drug screen at the same appointment, that is a different story. It also requires a completely different set of forms and paperwork. The DOT Physical in and of itself does not include a drug screen of any type. As mentioned above, the urine sample given at a DOT Physical is to test for high sugar levels only. Individual Companies are required to do a 5 panel drug screen on all new hires. Some go above and beyond also using hair follicle testing. Hair testing is solely for the Carrier and not required or recognized by the FMCSA. (YET)

In the past clinics did routine physicals that also included drug tests IF asked for. In fact, I was out back around 2000 driving west on I-80 in Utah and got notified to test. I was also told to plan to get a physical as mine was close to expiring. The clinics did both and as stated still sometimes in conjunction with orientations. IT is correct to state the FMCSA rules for a physical say nothing about drug tests.
