@jamespmack is there enough room under the hood of an fld112 to stick a 3406?
Trucks got a c12 in it now and I know a c15 of the same ecm pin number will plug and play but idk if it'll physically fit.
And can a resident cat expert fill me in on dimensional differences?Swine hauler, jamespmack, PoleCrusher and 5 others Thank this. -
Speaking of brakes....
I had a tire truck coming to put the other 4 new Uniroyals in the rear drive.
While @singlescrewshaker and I were conversing, I got a call from my tire go to guy.... Hey Jim, Yes Sir, Hey I need my road guy to talk to you and tell you what happened. Ok, Here he is..., A Sir, one of the thimbles broke off the stud on your truck. I can still mount the tire but I can’t get the wheel off. Ok, go ahead and mount the tire, and I will deal with it when I get home. Ok Sir thanks.
So, I get home and find the thimble broken off close to to the wheel ( aluminum ).
Rode this horse before so not really a big deal to me, just got to protect the wheel while burning it out.
Since he left some thimbles still screwed on, I chose to remove them first. Well.... holy shit....!!!! Talk about tight!!!! No wonder it broke, but it was cracked too, as apparent by the rust on one side of the break!!
I ended up with my 1000 ft lb torque wrench on them and dang near picked myself up off the ground!!!
Totally to tight!!! That’s the result of a dip #### that doesn’t know how to use a impact properly.
Anyways, I got it off and pulled the drum to replace the stud. Decided I wanted to replace the shoes and drum while I was that deep....
I have my own way as everyone does, if putting shoes on. My bucket of bolts has Q+ shoes on it, really easy to me.
I have a big bolt I use to drive the bottom spring mount in with, and it works great for me.
I like to clean the holes for the thimbles and nuts too, wire wheel & drill works great!
But it’s all back together and ready to boogie, with a new stud and all new thimbles & nuts.....Lostkeys, dwells40, Swine hauler and 13 others Thank this. -

Heck yeah he did!!
The gist I got was don't used em, & they'll darn near last the life of a truck.! Well you can bet, I took that advice to heart..
Bout 2 hours after I got loaded, 33 yardstick on 79N bambi wanted to see how serious I was.. Pffft, I don't play & knocked her block off at about 73mph.. How bout it!!

Take your high speed buffer to it, be just like new in no time.
Seriously that sucks. But, on the bright side, now you can get a junk yard hood and be mismatched like most of the FLDs we see.Lostkeys, Eldiablo, Swine hauler and 10 others Thank this. -
