My bad...I was given a drug test so I assumed it was part of the DOT exam. Thanks for clarifying that!

This is the one I was drinking in 2019 when I was working on my blood pressure. I measured my blood pressure about 3 times per day over 6 months, noting what I was doing. I got consistent and almost immediate results with beet juice. I did other things too, like walking/jogging and eating a general healthy diet, but there was a discernible fall in pressure with the juice.

Ouu Wee that Beet Juice I got wasn't only hard to find and expensive the taste leaves a lot to be desired. After drinking that I took the test and recorded my lowest doctor taken blood pressure reading. I saw it mentioned on a runner forum on lowering high blood pressure and did some research to find articles/studies prove it reduces BP almost immediately. That flavor came up with every burp afterwards that really encouraged me to go outside and workout (which I typically despise) so hopefully with better diet and weight loss I can eventually cut out all these rituals.

You would be surprised just how much you can lower BP by simply not drinking colas and coffee for a while. I will say what I said in post #20 again, I don't recommend taking things OTC or prescription just to get a medical card. Even with the white coat thing (a problem I also have) you can generally relax and the BP will come down. They are supposed to take several readings before failing you on the BP. The thing is high BP like pain is telling you something is wrong. I have had to learn this the hard way. BPs much over 130/85 are dangerous if they stay that high. I might also add that blood sugars that are so high you have sugar spilling into your urine is also dangerous. I was going to post some links about the relationship between diabetes and heart failure but decided against it. It depresses me a bit to see drivers advised to use quick cures. What happens most of the time after you get that card? Go through this process ever 24/12 months? This is like playing Russian Roulette with your health. One day you are going to find a live shell in the chamber just like I did! I understand the importance of the medical card. I just place MUCH MORE importance on you the driver staying alive and having a LONG healthy career and life!

I just renewed my dot physical. My blood pressure was 136/85 in the docs office. I measure my blood pressure at home and it’s normally around 120/60. That white coat thing is real for sure.

I bought most of mine from Amazon, but found it at Walmart a few times. I was surprised that Walmart had it, but they did.Last edited: Nov 5, 2020

My long term approach is incorporating exercise. I have already cut out all sugary drinks only water and have cut the sodium and amount I eat with a resultant very slow weight decline. I now occasionally ride bike, jog and do sit ups and push ups to work on my cardio system and also build my core muscles. One thing I inadvertently found is that blood pressure lowers after a work out for a few hours for people with borderline and are full on hypertension. I on a whim took mines a few hours after a work out and thought the monitor was broke (really low) until I did a google search and found the phenomena called post exercise hypotension. So not only is exercise good although I am not consistent as I should be but done the morning of lets say the DOT test (I have taken 4 for jobs since this thread) gives a better assurance of passing.
